    Now that we are past thanksgiving its time to look ahead to Christmas. We have a charger game against the Broncos on christmas eve - and I want to know if anyone is interested in doing something special for the tailgate. I love the Carne Asada and the Pollo Asada but I think Xmas Eve calls for something more special - does anyone who's going to the game want to do something like a pot luck or some sort of cooking that goes beyond tailgating?

    *One year we did up a fried turkey. That was killa' :tup:

    *Another year we did a vat of menudo. :abq2:

    *A clam bake would be awesome and we did that another year. :tup:

    *Shish-kee-bobs with shrimpies and octopus

    Carne asada while kickass needs to be changed up.
    I am down for something else.

    I have four tickets for sale for this game....GREAT SEATS, Field Level Section 39 row 19 (all together)...

    Serious offers only...PM me...The last time I sold these seats they went for about $240 each...I don't want to be greedy but, I only own one, so I have to speak for the crew.

    Last night, I brewed up a barrel of this.
    [IMG]

    Octoberfest Vienna Lager
    An elegant, malty and deep amber colored Marzenbier that is the celebrated beer of the world renowned Oktoberfest in Germany. Its smooth body and toffee richness inspires excitement.

    And a barrel of this.
    [IMG]

    Whispering Wheat Weizenbier
    A pale golden beer with a fruity, light and mild flavor. This is a favorite beer of Southern Germany. Delicate wheat malt conveys a sense of tranquility, but add a slice of lemon and this refreshing lively brew will surprise you.

    One whole moth to brew and carbonate. PERFECT!!!
    I'll have A LOT more this time too!!!

    Pot luck is definitely something I think everything can do but I'm also looking for stuff that can be cooked with a few grills at the stadium. Fried Turkey is an interesting idea BUUUUUT that's a bloody dangerous meal to try to make especially in close confines of the parking lot.
    What's something akin to an Xmas Dinner? I'm Jewish, all i ever ate on Xmas was chinese food.

    OMG....MAJOR DROOL! I love Maryland Crab Cakes! My grandfather that raised me was from Baltimore. One year when I was in SD we ordered this huge crab feast from Johnny B's (no longer in business?) for my Granddad and his sis. It was freakin' AWESOME!:yes:

    Yeah. That's one thing I miss about Baltimore.
    I just saw yesterday that they have "Phillips™ backfin crab meat" at Vons. Expensive but the best!!!! "Old Bay™ seasoning" too.

    Boltie,
    Our local grocery store is owned by Safeway, same as Vons. Our Dominicks is a mirror image of Vons. Where in the store did you find the Phillips backfin? Thanks honey......Steph:yes:

    Hey Kick *** Cutie!!! ;)
    I found the Phillips™ backfin to the right of the fresh seafood area.
    First you'll see a shelf that has all kinds of seafood spices and mixes for cooking, then there's a refrigerated area that has canned oysters, and various seafood dips. You'll see it in that section.

    Okay, now that I know where to find the delectable backfin....you need to post your recipe! I HATE crab cakes that are nothing more than filler with a couple of strands of crab....the kind that most restaurants try and pass off. If I remember correctly my Nana's recipe was LOTS of crab meat, mayo, saltine crackers crushed up, Old Bay, chopped green onion and maybe some spicy mustard? ****....I may have to call my sister! Anyways....post your recipe honey!:yes:

    * 1 pound Phillips™ backfin crabmeat
    * 1 1/2 tablespoons dry bread crumbs
    * 2 egg, beaten
    * 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    * 1 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning™
    * 2 tablespoons butter

    Place the crab meat in medium-size bowl. Add eggs, butter, Worcestershire sauce, beard crumbs, and Old Bay seasoning ™. Mix ingredients with large spoon (metal or plastic). You want to shread some of the meat but keep as many lumps as possible. Form into patties; this should make 6 good-size cakes.

    Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet, then fry cakes until brown crust forms on both sides of the crab cake.

    Enjoy Sweety!!!

    OK its obvious that a general pot luck is the best solution and everyone bring something.

    The Crab Cakes, the Tamales/Enchiladas sound great.
    What this should be, because its not only XMas Eve but the last home game minus any playoffs (no smarmy comments please) is really something special.

    Some other ideas I have:
    Whole Pork Loin
    Spare/Baby Back Ribs
    Leg of/Roast Lamb
    Potatoes - hash
    Stews (any meat or Lentils)
    Lasagna

    If anyone wants to contribute some other ideas I'm all ears. I'd also like to know if we can get more grills for the game or anything else that'll cook food besides just a grill (hot plates, maybe something akin to an oven)

    PS: B4L why not use leg or jumbo lump crabmeat? That'll make a better cake.

    Phillips backfin crab meat.

    I am just tripping on why B4L's posts had the little "TM" after every time he typed it. Wanted to see if it was automatically inserted for legal reasons. :lol:
