Another off site fan quote I cant help but agree with:

(HATE the idea of an 18 game season (I basically hate everything Goodell has done as commissioner, to tell you the truth - london games, talk of a london team, overtime changes, inability to keep the peace with the players union, and now expanding to 18 games). Too many games, too many injuries, just too much.

All this is making it harder and harder for me to be an NFL fan.)

Today I actualy felt my NFL fandom foundation shake after this news of forcing it down ur throat mentality of 18 games.

NFL can kiss my *** in the future if this is how its goin down...

Last out of thread quote I swear:

The players currently get 57% of the pie. If they want that sort of percentage then the revenues have to come from somewhere in order for the owners to stay in business.

This immediatly made me thing about the what if side.

What if the owners are trying to force the players hand.

Either the players work for less or they will have to work more for the same $, Oh and health risks.

no, but the they play in the season the more each one means.

but, I would be in favor of reducing the pre-season.

I think every season is to long in every sport

Going back to the 60’s they played a 12 game schedule, in the 70’s it was 14 games, and now we play 16 games. What are 2 more games any way? In 15 more years it will jump up 2 more games any way.

I'm against 18 games, but not for the reasons brought up in this thread currently (injuries, dilution of talent, "less quality", etc.)

Right now there's a harmony with how the schedules are set up and how the divisions are set up.

    Divisional Play - 6 Games
    Conference Play - 4 Games
Conference Divisional Placement Play - 2 Games
    Nonconference Play - 4 Games

That makes perfect sense to me. With 18 games, where do the other two come from? Randomly scheduled for ratings purposes? Don't like it. That's the crux of it for me.

They can just incorporate a couple pre-season games into the mix using expanded roster's. Instead of them meaning nothing they count is all, then the real schedule kicks in. Kind of like the college games against chosen participants that are just used for tune-ups.

So to get past the NoFunLeague tag, you want to change it to NOT Football Leauge?? That all sounds like an entirely new game to me.

I didnt hit on it enuff, but the best part about the 16 game setup is how the #s fall together. the number of teams, divisions, playoff spots/games. This what we are seeing now is the Peak and I can Guaruntee that product of NFL we will ever see.
