    Overall Football Traits
    Production 2 2009: Redshirt 2010: Played in 10 games (9 starts) at ROT2011: Started all 13 games at ROT. 2012: Started all 14 games at ROT
    Height-Weight-Speed 2 Mountain of a man. Prototypical height. Keeping weight in check might always be a challenge. At the Senior Bowl checked in at 355 pounds before shedding 16 pounds and checking in at 339 at the combine. Also has big hands (10.2') and very long arms (36.3'). Straight-line burst is below average for the position.
    Durability 3 In 2010, missed four starts and three games due to a groin injury suffered at South Carolina. Started all 27 games during last two seasons (2011-12). Lingering groin and calf injuries limited him at the Senior Bowl.
    Intangibles 2 Full name is Danny Lee Jesus Fluker. Is maturing. Working hard to keep weight in check and to improve conditioning. Originally from New Orleans, LA but family was forced by Hurricane Katrina to move to Biloxi, MS, and then later to Mobile, AL. Reportedly weighed 400 pounds in eighth grade.

    1 = EXCEPTIONAL2 = ABOVE AVERAGE3 = AVERAGE4 = BELOW AVERAGE5 = MARGINAL
    Offensive Tackle Specific Traits
    Pass Protection 3 Below average quickness in pass pro set. Tall with long arms and good upper body power. Difficult to get around and typically is able to make solid contact with pass rusher initially. Does a nice job of anchoring versus speed-to-power move. However, lacks ideal foot quickness and is not a natural knee bender. Frequently plays off balance and is lunging in desperation far too often versus quicker/faster edge rushers. Has limited mirror-slide ability. Gets burned versus quick double moves. Must continue to improve foot quickness and focus on playing with better balance.
    Run Blocking 1 Adequate initial quickness and does a nice job with first step angles. Fires out quickly and usually with good leverage. Has long arms and a strong upper body. Is thick from top to bottom. Massive ROT type capable of engulfing smaller defender. Does not lose many battles if he can keep it in phone booth, but when he does lose a phone booth battle it's because he allows pads to rise. He plays too high after first few steps out of stance. Too many times on tape where he's off-balance, lunging in desperation, has head down, etc., which leads to struggles sustaining on angle blocks, zone blocks, etc.
    Awareness 2 Showed improved focus and discipline as a senior; only two penalties in 781 snaps. Has natural instincts when it comes to combo blocks and passing defenders off before picking up twists, delayed blitzes, etc. Doesn't always seem confident in his assignments in space. But he does do a good job of adjusting on the fly.
    Toughness 1 Good motor. Plays hard for four quarters. Fights hard even when he's clearly gassed. Played with more of a consistent edge in 2012.

    STRENGTHS: Powerful run blocker. Fluker's combination of size and power make him a formidable prospect who should only get better. While he disappointed scouts by electing not to participate in the Senior Bowl (citing lingering calf, groin injuries), Fluker's incredibly impressive frame left scouts drooling. Despite weighing in 20 pounds heavier than he'd been listed at Alabama, Fluker showed impressive overall weight distribution, long limbs (including 36.38" arms) and shockingly little flab in his middle. Powerful hands. Is capable of latching on and controlling pass rushers. Passionate player who was regarded as a emotional leader for the Tide... For a drive-blocking, power-based scheme, Fluker ranks as the top right tackle prospect in the draft.

    WEAKNESSES: At his size, Fluker is strictly a right tackle or perhaps even a guard prospect as he hasn't demonstrated the agility or balance necessary to handle NFL speed rushers on a consistent basis. Even as a run blocker -- his specialty -- Fluker has a tendency to drop his head and stop his feet as he makes contact, resulting in some of his more talented opponents being able to disengage.

    Compares to: James Carpenter, Seahawks -- Due to his massive size and upside, Fluker will often earn comparisons to former Alabama standout Andre Smith, who the Cincinnati Bengals made the No. 6 overall pick of the 2009 draft. In reality, a fairer comparison is to former teammate Carpenter, who also earned a first-round selection (No. 25) in 2011 by the Seattle Seahawks.

    I know we needed OL but Fluker doesn't even fit a Zone Blocking system...does he?

    So basically he's Jeromey Clary.

    High motor, slow feet = still a liability.

    He's 340 pounds, he's got slow feet, and HE'S NOT EVEN A LEFT TACKLE which is what we really need.

    At best in 5 years he's going to be our starting RG.
