Keep Seji, Denario if he comes cheap, Butler for sure, English, Guy, Keiser, the two guards, and maybe Whitehurst depending on how that rookie we have on the roster looks in camp.

If DX comes cheap on a 1 year, show me your healthy and your 2012 season wasn't a fluke type deal like he took this year, than yes.

Butler and Rinehart if the price is right, Walker has 4 sacks on the season, most by any Charger, and has played OLB and ILB this year, so he's an insurance policy and ST's. Stuckey is interesting because we need that ST's guy, but how much do they value him as a back up at SS/FS?

I take it nobody thinks Cam Thomas is the NT of the future

    (neither do I)

If he isn't, you still need depth at the position. With all our other glaring needs, how be you propose to upgrade the NT position next year? Stud 3-4 NT's don't exactly grow on tress, you know.

Cam was very bad yesterday, he just doesn't seem to care about every play. Or at least that's what it looks like when he stands up and gets pushed 5 yards off the ball by 1 blocker.

Nope, Cam Thomas can go. Just not a good NT.

We need to plug that whole via FA, don't think we'll find a capable NT in the draft seeing how Nix is most likely a top 10 lock. There are some intriguing guys, I don't know how they've performed specifically this year but guys like Terrence Cody and Earl Mitchell are possibilities. Paul Soliai and Linval Joseph are capable and are out there.

I think we'll be a 4-3 defense next year to be honest.

Wait - you keep English but let Reggie Walker go? That's bass ackwards.

Also, Stuckey is a ST baller & adds some safety ability so I think he stays. And Cam will stay as a rotational guy if it's at a reasonable price.

    Absolutely Keep (In no order)
Lawrence Guy (great depth player at DE, worst case he'd be good for competition in TC)
Reggie Walker (I love him as a backup LB in general)
Seyi Ajirotutu (He should be long term considered the #4/#5 WR)
Donald Butler (It's a different defense when he is there, he's amazing when healthy)
Thomas Keiser (Much like Walker he's a great backup and rotational player

    Might keep (In no order)
Darrell Stuckey (Love his ST play but he's not much of a coverage/run stopper)
Charlie Whitehurst (Not sure if he's really worth keeping around)
Crezdon Butler (More about throwing every possible body in competition for CB)
Chad Rhinehart (I really like him playing but I don't know where he and Troutman fit)

Pass the antibiotics…I'm worried about Ajirotutu Fever raging unchecked

Hey I love a rags-to-riches stories more than anyone…especially NFL ones!

Got to love Ajirotutu and yesterday's catch was awesome and clutch.

But before we get swept up in this awesome moment…can we just remind ourselves
that Seyi has 7 catches in the 2011, 2012 & 2013 seasons…combined? The Chargers let him go, then the
Panthers let him go, and the current coaching staff--based on much, much more info than we've seen--
has seen fit to play Seyi essentially as a last resort. I'm just saying, there's likely solid reasons
why coaches don't play him more. It's not like Vincent Brown has been burning up the league.

Again, nice guy, great story…I wish him all the best. Especially when he's wearing bolts!
But I'm guessing the coaches know a lot more than we do, about Ajirotutu's skill set…
and they haven't exactly been flooding the field with Ajirotutu.

Based on the fact that he's had precious little to work with. If you think the failings of the defense are more based on play calling than personnel, then you haven't been paying attention.

Yesterday proved why he should stay here. He's our gunner on ST's and after securing that catch, he made a play on ST's to tackle Demps on the opposing kick off.

He's a ST's guy, and he contributes by knowing the offense, where to be, and chemistry with Rivers. To get thrown into the game, and secure a game winning catch and running a solid route is saying something. I wouldn't just want to throw another guy we'll draft or pick up in FA and run the wrong route and cause a pick. If you heard Rivers' presser, he said he reminded Seyi even though he didn't have to because he knew he knew about the coverage, that if it was cover 2 they were going over the top for the TD and that's what exactly happened.

    Well if Pagano isn't here.

We've actually been in 4-3 sets here and there because of injuries, not every play every game obviously. Especially when Butler was out, that's when Weddle was one of the LB's.

Just saying, think we can find more players for the 4-3 in the draft and via FA than if we stay in the 3-4.

If you're making the "Kassim" argument, that's a bit different from what I was reacting to, but, regardless: have we seen enough to be confident that Ajirotutu's on that Pro Bowl level re. ST?

Yes I agree, Pagano has little to work with, and has done a pretty decent job. But, let's not forget, he's under the Norv coaching tree. I hate to bring it up, but at times this year he has been pretty stubborn in changing his scheme and we're still playing WR's off coverage about 10 yards.

At times this year, we've played so off coverage, Cox or Wright have lined up after the sticks, Why? You sit on the route and at the sticks, and against Denver I can't tell you how many times Decker and Thomas ran out routes to get the first down, Wright did a good job sitting on the route but Cox and others didn't. It's coaching more than Cox's and others play.

Cox is a man to man guy. He's never played this much off coverage in his career. Adapt to your players. Yesterday as well, Addae was supposed to help over the top with Cox, and Avery beats them for the TD.

The constant tackling issues, we had the same problem last year as well (4&29 still burns in my mind).

Probably not, but Kassim never got throw into a game of that magnitude and be able to secure a game winning catch. He never really had good hands either. I just think Ajirotutu has some kind of chemistry with Rivers, understands what to do in this offense, and contributes on ST's. To have a guy who plays exclusively on ST's and to throw him out there to make a catch like that, or even recognize what to do against what coverage and for Rivers to have that confidence to go to him is something valuable to have.
