Heard this both on KUSI and on Fox Sports tonight locally in SD so i'll pass these on from them quoting Norv Turner

    1. Michael Turner won't play against the 49ers but he should be healthy enough for the Bears
    2. Darren Sproles has done enough to be sure he has made the team. He's no longer in the discussion about who will be cut
    3. Clinton Hart will be the strong safety this year

A.J. said Weedle was actually a first round pick in his mind.

Well if that is the case, then Hart should be getting paid what a first round pick is getting, as well if not more, since Weddle can not win the starting job.

Sigh of relief since this means it isn't the dreaded high ankle sprain.

    No-brainer at this point.

Those must not have been his blown coverages in the game on Saturday. I did think Weddle showed a knack for being around the ball, but he is a rookie. Good for Clinton. He has put in his time and done all the right things. He deserves to show what he's got IMO.

That is too bad about Turner, but better to get him healthy before the regular season anyway.
Good on Sproles for stepping up and earning his paycheck (and justifying his 4th round status). I hope to see him on the field more, in more than just a special teams capacity.

Hart won the SS spot? Well of course he did! That is what you get for showing the coaching staff your dominance in the past few games. :icon_tease:

By this retarded logic Brees was getting screwed since Rivers couldn't beat him out. Brees should have been getting top 5 pick in the draft money.

Norv stated in his press conference that the first touchdown was on Jammer. Jammer was supposed to be in a deep zone and when he saw Leinart scramble he tried to jump the short route and got burned.

On that 3rd and long 80 yard TD pass by the Cards on saturday night, Weddle was on a safety blitz, so it certainly couldn't have been his fault. He was in the Cardinals backfield.

 Weddle has a good shot of getting this job by the end of the season.

My point is that he continues to make these same mistakes. Fawk...I seriously have heartburn everytime a QB steps back in the pocket and has time to throw. :icon_sad:

Is he suddenly going to change? He gambles. Just pray that when he does, it doesn't burn us like Boldin did.

Lapses like the ones that occurred last game should be far less of a problem when these dorks start running the actually defensive schemes instead of rootbeer floats. I would like to see a little real action on Thursday from this defense. I think these mistakes are part of lack of focus you get when your running a defense at all ahead one third. If I'm bored with this crap, the starters must be, too. Jammer may have jumped that route because he got tired of standing around with his pud in his hand. Against the niners, we should get a real read on Pinnock and Sproles(as if there is any doubt left about him at this point). Nanee and Chandler should get some more action.

Aside from it costing me money, I was ticked off because there was no excuse for Chandler to not even get a look in the endzone from Volek on that drive that sputtered near the endzone. I realize Volek has man love for Camarillo (as Al Michaels pointed out in our first preseason game), but that out in the end zone would have been money if Chandler had been on the receiving end instead of GC(ala the St. Louis game). For such a big dude, Chandler really knows how to travel well through traffic (ie. LB's), and get himself open. Instead, we settle for a freaking field goal inside of the 10 yrd line.

I guess I just really like Chandler, and think he'll be good for a TD or two this year when everyone is trying to cover LT, Gates and our #1 WR in the red zone.

If we had somehow wound up with Sheli instead of Rivers, Brees would probably still be our starter.

I'll believe that when I see Michael Turner busting through the Bears d-line and leaving would-be tacklers on the ground. Right now, I'm around 30-40% believability there. I believe AJ and Norv simply want the opposition to think they'll have to deal with Michael Turner. I hope he plays and plays well vs. Chicago but I'm not counting on it. If he suffered a high ankle sprain, as reported, then he's out for the first regular season game at least. I've never heard of someone having one of those injuries and reporting back that soon, and at 100%.

But please prove me wrong Michael!

    Please prove me wrong!

I think they would have jettisoned Brees to let the "Golden Boy" Eli take over, having sunk more money into him than they did into Rivers, and we would get to watch him overthrow, underthrow, throw off his back foot, and generally act like he doesn't have a pair, instead of Giants fans.

    Giants fans: enjoy. :icon_twisted:

No way in hell certain people are going to believe that. He's never even given up a completion much less a TD.
