Im almost willing to burn next years second to cement Glenn. I kno he would be a player everyone here can love cuz he can probably force Clary out of his job. And I Know that would make alot of you happier as fans. This year tho, jus work on the G spot.
If were gonna look for a LB id rather to outside again than in. The OLBs save for Ingram are all FAs next year. The inside guys? They are still young and havent had the time to get proven.
Anyone listening to NFLn? Only 50% of 2nd round picks end up starters after 4 years. BPA BPA BPA. AND wtf how does NE still have 2 2nd round picks? AND they traded up both of their firsts?? I see a problem with the current draft pick system.
NE traded down in past years & stockpiled the picks. There's not an issue with the system - there's an issue with how some teams manage it.
The fix: There should be a limit on how many picks in the first maybe the second also that ANY team can have in one Draft season. NE over the years has done some pretty masterful trading down at what was then higher value and got more second rounds for their own first that was bottom of the round. So over the years they have used those second round picks as bait for other teams that wanted a player and HAD to get him at that magic # spot in the round that NE was sittin on 2 picks +-5 and one pick that would be above the opposing team who is targeting YOUR player. So eventualy (past 2 seasons) NE has managed to get high next year picks from teams desperate for a fix player. And now we end up with a team with 2 first round picks on average, 3 second round picks and all their other picks. So now the value of draft picks has gone fuzzy. And even moreso points teams in the direction of BPA or go get the guy you think helps you the most. The cost is minimal if your right about the player. So now we have a NE team that still has that wheel n deal ability with multiple 2nd rounders and prob a few more picks in the top 100 to toss out for a team to grab in a trade up for their 2nd round next year. ANd thus NE keeps their infinite well of High draft picks no matter how much the win or lose in a year. Bet that NE will get another 2nd next year in a trade up/down in this round and they still get the player that fits them best. I know alot of why they are where they are now in the system we are in is becuase of smart drafting. But damn there needs to be a limit to how many 1st and 2nd round picks a team can have.
Maybe there needs to be a floor on the IQ & horse-trading ability of GM's. If this was SD that had all of these picks you'd be clicking your heels & singing the praises of AJ the Magnificent.
Its jus screwd up to me now a little. Granted that this year the second round is amost another first round for as far as the depth of skilled players maybe the actulay use all those picks and stop picking up future picks and get back to more balanced with the rest of the leauge. It is ****** that NE is like the goto trade partner. Wish teams would try to make deals with OTHER teams.... Why not pay more to a lesser team than what you would to NE and still get say 1 spot above where NE was offering a pick. Give the rest of the teams some trading bonus fodder.
Not to mention New England only has 2 more picks in the 2nd and then their draft is done............................................. well until they use one of those to trade back
So in other words, it isn't the system that's the issue, it's the team that you see as having best manipulated the system that bothers you. I agree that it sucks that NE has these value picks. Maybe some of these other teams should take notes.
Yes. Have I mentioned the 4? Pit NE BAL and DEN. DESPISE these teams soo much. I have to hate their greats too. BB sucks Champ is a Chump PR is better than a fat clock and ill never forgive Todd Heap for that last minute win steal in 08. Actulay now that Todds not there, Hes a great player.
I see 5 guys I would love to have and plug in a G, most come with the skill/versatility to play multiple line positions. No particular order other than whos graded highest: Cordy Glenn Peter Konz Bobbie Massie Amini Silatolu Kelechi Osemele George Iloka looks like as far as grade value that he will be drafted in the next 30 picks. I could go with S here, but will be hard to pass on the OLine help which im pretty sure all 5 will also be gone in the next 30 picks.
OK heres where NE will get their extra picks. http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/0900...s-garnering-secondround-interest-in-nfl-draft
Im not sayin we should. Especialy if one of the 5 Olinemen I mentiond are still around (which at least one will be) I more imagine that Iloka is reached fore, just not sayin we are the team that does it. I got my S buble of later picks and Iloka is imo the third round pick.
Ok so STL should trade thier 45th pick to a team that wants to gamble on Jenkins. Get a 2nd next year and swap this years... Gotta do the NE. Stl still has their 3and4 which are still top 100 picks. EDiT: If CAR is really intersted in takin the chance on him at 40, Stl can easily orchistrate the same trade for their pick at 39. If teams are lookin to move up to middle of hte 2nd, they should also think of callin STL about movin to top of the middle. More guaruntee that Jenkins will be there for that team that REALLY wants him.
Ideal second round (trade second next year to Rams for second this year) - Cordy Glenn OL Georgia Actual Second Rounder - Brandon Thompson NT Clemson BEEEFFF!
I would do that, but IMO for the first pick of the second STL will want a lil more probably our third this year with that 2nd swap and next years. I might go for that if STL would...
See the term BEEF is so OLD! If you think about it, there is a reason Cows (the creature best know for producing BEEF) are called Slow Elk in the mountains of the Western US... I would go with something more aggressive and fast. Big and slow just makes you a pylon...

I like Oline with the second and one of many S canidate players with the third or fourth if we need get a DT or RB in the third.
So... what does that say about the fact that we drafted a T-Rex with our 1st? I like the pick, this isn't me being overly critical, but with his short arms you have to admit it's a rather apropos analogy.... maybe even a potential nickname.
T-Rex is a predator and east beef... Approve... Ps I am joking about the Term 'beef' not picking up linemen...
