I'm very excited about the outcome of the finals tomorrow. I will give you all the news of the game. Nauheim ist trying to get to the 3rd league the fourth time in 10 years, but never succeded. We have semi-professional leagues, playing in Germany, founded in 1978. That means you get a little money, but mostly you can't live from it. We have 5 to 6 string leagues, because the teams don't belong to a company of owners. When 50 guys creat a new team, they start in the lowest league of your country. 1st league is German Football League - GFL with 6 teams in each conference NORTH and SOUTH 2nd GFL has similar confereces NORTH and SOUTH with 8 teams each 3rd string is called Regional League beyond 2nd GFL North there is NORTH EAST WEST beyond south there is only CENTRAL and SOUTH 4th string is called Upper League we have six leagues called NORTH EAST WEST and Hess/Thur/RLP/Saar, Baden-Wurtemberg Bavaria 5th string is called Lower League of Countries and has similar 6 names NORTH EAST WEST, CENTRAL, SOUTH-WEST, SOUTH after winning one league, you play the next level in the following year and the last team of the higher league crushes down into the lower one. Only the 12 GFL teams play to start at the German Bowl.
American-style football in Germany? I had no idea. Thanks, Cran, for enlightening BTers to this. It is very interesting and informative.
Thank you for listening. I will feed this thread with more news and history. There is more football in Germany than NFLE and it was no wonder 5 teams played in Germany. Thanks to the members of the American Forces we learned a lot about this sport.
Hi folks, today was a great american football day. I've become the bolttalk reporter from the upper league finals NAUHEIM WILD BOYS vs. FRANKFURT PIRATES Before the game Offensive and Defensive Linemen and the Offensive Coordinator were optimistic. Wild Boys are 10:0 favorites.
Wild Boys have to kick. Pirates start the first drive. View attachment 1146 View attachment 1147 They get stopped with 3 and out. View attachment 1148
First drive of the nauheim Wildboys. First down with two runs. Then on 3rd down an long View attachment 1149 And a fine catch by Nr. 2 Mario Schlegel TD Wildboys View attachment 1150 7:0 The Pirates don't get anything going, even when WB had a fumble on the snap. 1st Quarter 7:0
In the second quarter the Wildboys made a mistake at a punt return and had to start on their 2 y line. View attachment 1151 The good defence crashed through the line and got a safety. 7 : 2 The following drives were fought hard, a lot of yellow flags on both sides show that the teams had flattering nerves.
After some too short passes, where the receivers couldn't handle it. Two catches and a TD run gave the Pirates a 9-7 lead. This was halftime. View attachment 1152 The Pirates' Cheerleaders are showing some artistics View attachment 1153
I went to the opposite side. Pirates have a press consultant. She told me, the Pirates have a really young team with an American Coach. Only 1 American citizen is allowed to play on the field. Pirates have 1 DEF and 1 OFF player. View attachment 1155 Defensive Back Christian is optimistic, they can handle the lead. View attachment 1156 The Flag reminds me of some black and silver team, we San Diego Fans don't like to see. ... and black and yellow is another combination we like to be against. View attachment 1157
On the Nauheim side the favorite team has got a little anxious. Nauheim has been in the Upper League finals twice in the last 5 years and didn't succeed yet. View attachment 1160 But the team found to their true offence play. Short runs and long passes. View attachment 1159 View attachment 1158 They got 3 unanswered TDs. One a catch and run TD from the 50 yard line. so 14: 9 21: 9 28: 9 was the spectators applause.

Awesome idea, Cran! Only problem is I am not getting ANY pictures attached to your posts! They are all little squares with an "X" and some writing.:icon_shrug:
I don't know what's this is like . I can see all the pictures and when I doubleclick on your quote, they open as pictures.
I logged in without my name and saw no pictures, only written "attachment". But doubleclick opened the pictures. I have three pics for a finish. Handshake between both teams after the game Thank you Frankfurt Pirates for a good event.
