I'm going to try to get a mint condition 1972 Dodge Dart running tomorrow. It's been in 'storage' since 1985 or so. Gonna do the usual mist the cylinders, change out the old gas, plugs, oil etc.

One hitch, and yeah it's a shotgun approach to throw this on bolttalk but what the hell:

The thing doesn't move. It's been stored in a garage in eastern Colorado--very dry climate. It wasn't stuck in gear when it was stored, but it is now. Tires have air but it won't budge and you can't change gear (unknown what gear it is currently in).

Anyone out there have any hints on a fix for this.

Do you know what model the transmission is?

I had a triumph spitfire that if you drove it to hard you could snap a bolt in the tranny and not be able to get it out for gear.

I would have to open up the tranny and replace the bolt.

The owners were/are pretty dang conservative drivers. I'm not diving into any tranny. That sheet's too complicated ;)

Seriously though, thanks for the thought there. But if it's that involved, I'll sell it for the body.

Excellent pump-thanks. Didn't ask if it was rear wheel drive or not, but that thread has some good suggestions if so.

Not sure about the worn linkage fix specifics. 86K seems a bit early given who was driving it. Idk, maybe the old man would burn rubber around corners late at night. That said, easy fix, I'll check it--thanks!

Got it running. The linkage just needed some ******* with and it popped out of gear eventually, as one of the posts in those threads suggested.
Lots of smoke when we started it up. But ran clear after a few minutes of idling.

Haven't been back to Boulder yet since getting it running. Hopefully it hasn't floated away.

No, I'd get a lot more for it if it was a swinger. It's more like this:

Better color (metallic blue) but it's a 4 dr custom.
