NEW YORK The National Football League has announced that Sunday night's game between the New York Giants and San Diego Chargers has been moved to Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. League sources indicated that the predicted marine layer and the overcast sky will make playing conditions unsafe in San Diego and felt there was no other recourse but to move the game across country. Stadium operators in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Phoenix also offered up stadiums, but the league declined. "We felt it was in the league's best interest to move this game to New York," spokesman Brian Gobberman said. "But this will not be an extra home game for the Giants. No, sir. We will make some half-hearted attempts to recreate the atmosphere of San Diego by painting 'Chargers' in one end zone and importing some Raiders fans to harrass the local fans."
