I didn't watch the game, but the punt block was replayed as a high(low)light. Did Scifres get back up after that?
Balls - Alexander, Gates, Liuget, Butler and Floyd. Birds - the rest of em including the ownership for ensuring 'continuity' of hopelessness.
FIFY. He definitely deserves. Pretty sure, he's got another two years left on his current contract, but yeah... one of the few guys willing to show some stones in this game. Honestly, credit to Mathews. The defense knew when and where he was going to run on a number of plays and he still put his head down, lowered his pad level, and drove through on the #1 rush defense in the league (and pretty much knocked a LB unconscious in the process).
There are no balls on the Chargers, if there were someone would be laid out. The whole damn team is nothing more than a shyt bird from top to bottom.
Balls; Cam Thomas, Danario Alexander, Malcolm Floyd, Eric Weddle, Corey Liuget, Donald Butler, Mike Scifres Birds; Norv Turner, John Pagano, the entire offensive line and secondary minus Weddle Middle ground: Philip Rivers
I think that it's really hard to judge Rivers this season. He has no time to do anything, and his receiving options are probably the worst they've been in his entire time here. It probably doesn't help that our corners suck so badly that he feels that he needs to put 35 on the board to win a game.
Our corners suck so bad that they held a very explosive O to 20 points. That would have won the game for us.
I can't tell if this is sarcasm but, really? Two guys are responsible for the whole offense? 2=11. Oh, I see what you did there with the math. 2= 1+1 Makes sense now.
too numb to care, so Bird to me. I did not even get upset at the Bucs loss. I knew it was coming and watched it roll over our team like a rogue tide. I will always be a fan, but I just dont see a lot of good things coming the remainder of the season... Birds to me.
I must disagree. You get a ball for the highlighted section alone. That takes balls and to some degree, an incredibly high threshold for mental pain and anguish, coupled with great stubbornness (or determination as I like to call it). You're definitely a glutton for punishment, a determined fan with a stiff upper lip. You pound your cranium against the obstacle of Chargers losses and come away fresh and ready to take on next week's challenge. You...deserve..a ball. Or a bird, whatever...I just felt like typing something...
Yep. Baldwin, Alec Carville, James Franken, Al Malloy, Mike Pelosi, Nancy Sharpton, Al Wright, Jeremiah
Mathews wasn't terrible...and this is why: 1. He had only 17 rushing attempts (we know Norv abandons the run in the second half). 2. He was up against the leagues First-Ranked Defense against the rush (Those guys know about staying in lanes). 3. He arguably has the leagues worst offensive line trying to open holes for him. 4. I just wanted to argue the point.
Balls : DC John Pagano – Our defense contained the dangerous duo of Vincent Jackson & Doug Martin, and only giving up 1 touchdown & 1 field goal per half. That should’ve been good enough to win this game, especially on a day in which our quarterback threw for 3 touchdowns. Danario Alexander – Set the tone early with his impressive, tackle breaking 80 yard TD catch & run. Finished the day with 143 yards on 7 receptions. Corey Liuget – Really showing promise in his 2nd NFL season, led the team with 6 tackles, 2 of them for losses. Antonio Gates – Continues to climb the charts in the franchise & NFL record books, and continuing to fill out his Hall of Fame resumé with his 80th TD reception that puts him only 1 behind Hall of Famer Lance Alworth in Chargers history. Donald Butler – Another good game with 4 tackles & a sack. Malcom Floyd – In addition to staying healthy this year (so far) has stepped up admirably as our #1 wide receiver in the wake of VJ’s departure, and Meachum’s ineffectiveness. Mike Scrifes – Gutted out the rest of the game and played quite effectively, after hurting his ankle in the 2nd Quarter on the blocked punt play. Birds: Whoever missed the block on that special teams play in which Scifres was hurt, and the Bucs were gifted with an easy touchdown that gave them their 1st lead of the day. HC Norv Turner – Continues his maddening trend of barely using our workhorse RB Ryan Mathews in favor of the collection of scrubs & senior citizens all getting their “touches”, and keeping Mathews on the sidelines during real late game, desperation drives in which we are only 1 score away from tying or taking the lead. Philip Rivers - Was well on his way to a stellar game, with 300+ passing yards & TD tosses to 3 different receivers, but that 4th Quarter pick six was a 10 point swing and put us in a hole that we did not have the time to climb out of. Jeromy Clary – Had both hands on Leonard Johnson during the interception return, could’ve at least pushed him out of bounds at about midfield if unable to tackle him.
Good points about Mathews, all. We traded up 16 spots in the 1st round to acquire him, but Norv treats him like a scrub who is only on this roster because he’s related to someone in the organization or something.
