Yeah and thats why he's fallen so fast, he's going to have eyes on him 24/7 and people are going to wait for the blowup. But the 6th and 7th round range = low risk and potentially high reward. This guy was a 1st round lock and a heisman candidate before this incident in September, and people around him including coaches say he's been a different person ever since. And if nothing else....it would be nice to see him put one right between McDaniels chops.
The more I think about it, the more I think RB in the 1st round is a lock. I'll try to explain. NT- Jamal and Bingham are probably coming back, and he already drafted Vaughn Martin to groom into a NT. So next year we're 3 deep again, maybe he'll draft a sleeper NT for depth. RT- AJ has never gone O-line in RD 1 before. In his 7 drafts so far he seems to avoid it by taking skill positions. Last year was the perfect example by passing on Michael Oher for Larry English. Even Marcus McNeil was passed on and picked up in the 2nd round. Dielman is a converted D-linemen UDFA, Hardwick was a 3rd round pick, Vazquez 3rd round, Clary 6th round etc...etc... Look for him to hit it in the 2nd or 3rd with a sleeper like Vladimir Duccasse, or Tony Washington, or Kyle Calloway from Iowa. RB- We've had LT......he's had no reason before now to doubt LT. So thats just my thinking.
Your logic works, no doubt. I personally don't like to use a 1st on "bling". The productive life of a RB in the NFL is getting shorter & shorter, particularly for the the smaller guys like Best & Spiller. Much will depend, IMO, on what we decide to do with Shawne. If we put the RFA tender on him & someone bites, we'll need an OLB again. Or there could be a trade for Merriman involving a current RB. I definitely don't want to see AJ somehow garner more picks & then trade up for someone like Spiller. That would be just plain stupid. Trade up for Suh? Maybe so.
I'm sure you think its stupid now, but if Spiller turns out to be a Chris Johnson clone you probably wouldn't complain. I don't much like AJ's style in the drafts either, but its obvious he's been more inclined to take a skill position player or a potential impact playmaker than to order the beef.
Not stupid - Spiller is a dynamic playmaker. I just think that we have bigger fish to fry with our 1st rounder. Like getting some guys who can stop those dynamic playmakers.
Yeh but we don't need a little back. I mean we got sproles. If we get him back we don't need spiller or best. Sproles is already much faster. He'll take a screen 40 yards no trouble. We need a power back to run between the tackles and get the hard yards. Blount is pretty fast and he's a bruiser too. HE's like 250 and still fast as hell. 6th round and we would be in bussiness. We' d pay him little and get so much!!!! Norv runs on first down everydown but tomlinson and sproles are only gettin 1 or 2 yards bc they are too light and are line sucks. Blount would pound people like Brandon jacobs only alot faster!
You don't have to tell me.:icon_shrug: We don't need another small back if we can re-sign Sproles, I'd be happy with Dwyer, Mathews or Blount pounding the rock 20+ times a game for us. And even if we do somehow land CJ Spiller I think RB is such an immediate need that I couldn't complain.
can we resign spoles? Will LT be back next year? If the answer is no to either we need to draft either a spiller type or blount!!!
Everyone knows bolt cash is a better investment than dollars these days. Blount would have to be crazy to turn that down!
Bummer. I guess its all about blount. He will be a future hall of fame type back if he doesn't punch anyone.
As opposed to Kaeding who will shank our way out of EVERY PLAYOFFS?:icon_tease: I'm just joking really, Kaeding is probably not going anywhere.
Well in this case then would you like to stack your bolttalk cash against mine that says AJ WILL NOT DRAFT THIS GUY? I can't even believe you all want this guy. Who cares if we get a guy for little to no money. He is a locker room cancer, and a thug. You can take a man out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of the man.
i know. Im just saying, thats what we got last time we drafted a kicker... And I never said aj willl draft blount. All I am saying is that he should!
