I can't wait to hear what the players really think about Norval after he is fired. Let's hope it comes soon, but I am not holding my breath.

Doesn't negate the fact that he likes Norval like LT liked Marty.

Of course he could just be saying that for the sake of PR (relations, not Rivers) for all I know, so who knows.

This is from Yahoo Sports "Winners and Losers" Column... By Charles Robinson

    (from the Losers section)

    San Diego's Norv Turner
San Diego has lost three of its last four, and all four of its road games this season. It doesn’t look like a mentally tough team, and quarterback Philip Rivers(notes) looks frustrated with the offense. Losing Antonio Gates(notes) shouldn’t deflate the entire offense the way it did. All of this is a reflection of Turner, who is likely coaching for his job at this point. Losing to a depleted Rams team with far less talent is unacceptable.

Pretty much sums it up to me!

I just hope it's not Wade Phillips if he's let go. He's the defensive version of Norv. We need a mentally tough and agressive coach.

With Norv having a contract extension and AJ and Norv being buds, Norv is going nowhere.

I'm still down with firing Norv, even if we do make the playoffs. 2-5 was completely unnacceptable given the teams we played against, he is awful at getting this team prepared to start seasons and games. Despite the win on Monday he called some phenomenally stupid plays on 2nd and 3rd down that killed drives for us early on, thats something we can't afford to do against better teams than Denver. If we come out the gate flat like that against Peyton we'll be down 14-0 before you can take your seat.

I realize I'll get some eye rolls after saying this after a nice win, but its only a matter of time until the topic is taken serious again.

Norv's season slumps may end if he'd just let Philip call the play's like Coryell did with Fout's, I mean what could it hurt? Philip already knows the offense as well as anyone else and is reading the D live, give him a shot Norv it can't go to wrong.

he craps out in the playoffs another year he could very well be in trouble, but he gets close enough to get fired only to pull his *** out of the fire

Gruden is happy being a tv guy now and it's a good thing Norv just continues to go forward with his coaching. Whatever we may write about him he does his job. Just like the sp-teams coach (we did have stellar sp-teams before) you gotta coach and get the players to perform. He has been on the money lately and this thred needs to stop. I realise that by responding to the talk I'm enabling the ongoing conflict but I can't resist. As I'm sure that goes for the rest of you. Maybe not. But I remember the 'get rid of Schotenhymer' (sp) speak years ago, he gets fired then it's like everybody goes..Whaaaa? Maybe some people are fickle but then again my life doesn't compleatly revolve around football (as much as I dig the Chargers).
