I would give up a 4th rounder which could conditionally become a 3rd rounder for Taylor, even as a 1 year rental.
No, I said IMO. I just don't believe that AJ is going to give up what Miami wants for a 1-year wonder.
If you have the chance to win a superbowl now, you do whatever you can to win it. I love the idea of adding Taylor ESPECIALLY when you consider Florence is gone (one of the worst tackling CBs in the league) and we now have some good tackling DBs like Oliver, Cason and Tribble on 3rd down. You could line up Taylor Merriman and Phillips all at the same time and their ability to get to the QB would make the QB have to release the ball quickly and all these DBs can break on the ball well and come up to make critical tackles. I say do it. We have so much youth on this roster anyways that it is harder and harder for draft picks to make the team.
WE DON'T HAVE 2ND ROUND PICK NEXT YEAR so if thats what B.P wants from us he'll have to go to the cheats cuz they have it now. BTW NO!!! GM in his right mind would give up a 2nd round pick for a guy that only wants to play for ONE more year. plus his contract is pretty steep. the best the fins can wish for is a 3rd and JT WOULD HAVE TO REDO his contract to come here. so if all those things can get worked out then he will more than likly come here if not oh well :icon_shrug: EDIT: JMHO we could do w/ less theads about this guy. but thats just me call me carzy lol edit:#2 Ray Lewis will be a free agent next year and i would rather have him
No need, no budget, no commitment, no chemistry, sliding talent, star struck eyes and a self centered attitude. He wants to be Fred Astaire and we need Attila the Hun.
That's the only way I see him coming to San Diego... as one year rent for insurance. He gets a ring either way. My bet is either he stays with Miami or goes to Philadelphia.
Taylor: 1. Has to learn OLB 2. Learn pass coverage 3. Learn the 3-4 4. Learn the signals and codes 5. Would probably have to start and thus infuriate Shaun Phillips No thanks on that, regardless
While I can see AJ picking up a vet just for a year to make a SB run, I don't think he'd EVER give up more than a 4th rounder, if that.
I can't lie I'd take JT with arms wide open, but AJ is not gonna flip the jack to this guy for only a year. AJ will sign a cheap temporary filler if injuries become an issue, and rightfully so we have a lot of big time guys coming up on contract yrs. shortly
They played a 3-4 a lot of the time last year. I am pretty sure he played OLB when they lined up in a 3-4. Still don't want him on the team
