SAN DIEGO (AP) - Chargers rookie outside linebacker Shawne Merriman had surgery Monday to insert pins in a dislocated bone in his left wrist.

The Chargers have their bye this weekend, and Merriman is expected to play when the Chargers face the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 20, coach Marty Schottenheimer said.

Merriman was hurt Sunday in a road win against the New York Jets. The 12th pick overall in the NFL draft, Merriman leads the Chargers with five sacks.

Linebacker Donnie Edwards had planned to have surgery Monday to repair torn cartilage in his left knee, but said the joint wasn't swollen so he'll put it off until after the season.
