    This says it all.

Sad a 33 year old, soon to be 34 actually came out and said this. Can't get any immature than this, and I don't want this boneheaded douche.

I also do not want to get into a bidding war with this clown, please Telesco.

Don't worry, the Chargers don't have the cap space to get in any bidding war.

So much for that. Ravens announce they've reached a two-year contract with LT Bryant McKinnie.

LOL, Plan D: End up watching Rivers get shoveled off the turf/grass 10-15 times a game and pray he doesn't end his career.

In the mean time, good god is this kid exciting. I posted this here to help numb the pain a bit.
I hope McCoy finds a way to get this kid on the field ASAP

Bryant McKinnie won't be a Charger

    By Michael Gehlken2:08 P.M.MAY 2, 2013

    Well, so much for that.

After Bryant McKinnie left a two-day visit with the Chargers on Wednesday, he turned around Thursday and agreed to a two-year contract with the Ravens. The 33-year-old was a fallback option for San Diego after it was unable to address its need for a left tackle during the draft.

    Now, it'll proceed without him.

In March, the Chargers signed King Dunlap, a 6-foot-9 tackle with 19 career starts, include 11 on the left side in 2012. Michael Harris and Kevin Haslam are on the roster as well. If the season began today, Dunlap would be the Chargers' Week 1 starter against the Texans.

As for the remaining market at left tackle, it's not pretty.

Max Starks is the only one with 16 starts at the position last season, doing so with the Steelers.

Anyone else agree that we have some of the worst beat writers in the league? Not saying their writing is crap, but it always seems like they only write about stories and news 10 minutes after they were broken. Then they provide no insight, just give speculation to things that you can find on Chargers.com message boards

Good that we didn't overpay, but obviously we still have a need, and the options are running out.. Is Starks worth a look? Don't know a lot about him...

At this point I'm not sure if he would be a major upgrade over Dunlap, I would like to see the possibly bring in Bell, and Starks for a competition stand point, that way if Dunlap is the week one starter it'll tell us he is the best of the bunch and earned it.

between Dunlap, Haslam and Harris it's pretty much a forgone conclusion who the LT will be

Agreed. So how does Starks compare to McKinnie? I'm assuming not as well since we haven't made any attempts to court him, and went with McKinnie instead?

Gehlkin's still young and cutting his teeth. Pagliano isn't even worth mentioning; he's not a journalist, he's a blowhard. Acee is more interested in writing opinion pieces than reporting news these days. And the best among them, Krasovic, is criminally underpublished and looks like he's constant assigned to write the "team-related but not in a technical sense" stories - which is a shame because he's demonstrated the best capacity for explaining the intricacies of the game.

Then again, consider the audience too. A fair amount of folks that just get their Chargers news from local news and newspapers aren't likely to have knowledge of how good Jammal Brown actually was when he played in New Orleans or weren't paying attention when Sean Locklear had ShEli's blind-side on lockdown last season, but if you tell them that both those guys are coming off injuries that ended their last season they'll automatically equate them to being inferior to a player who notched more starts last season or career RT's who have been effective in the role but never demonstrated the ability to play the blind-side.

Long story short........ we're still as lacking in depth at left tackle as we were last season.

I only hope that a season of experience, and a change of scheme, will help Harris improve.

So everyone who didnt want McKinnie are set, of course that leaves us with Dunlap as the starter and a dwindling group of possible veteran replacements. Hope you guys are happy with your power starting LT. Not saying McKinnie was going to be great but I for one am not happy with Dunlap covering the blindside.

No, anyway you look at it were better off then we were last year. Just with the removal Gaither, but Dunlap adds added depth, and is a improvement over Harris. Without Gaither, theres less drama in the locker room, and hes no longer there to bring the team down.

There wasn't much drama, he just wasn't there. The fact remains, that if Dunlap doesn't deliver (or gets hurt), we're left in the same situation as last year.

Exactly, and who knows, there is a thing called regression. I mean it is completely possible that if the above scenario happened, that we could be in worse shape than we were a year ago. There is no guarantee even at his age that he doesn't get better, and could be worse if he regresses.

Well, I'm going to assume he gets better, but we don't know if the improvement will be enough to meet our needs. We don't want to start the season with a big ? at the LT position.

You could have Acee who got scoops before everyone else, but was able to do so by kissing AJ's *** and not being honest about the team.

I never saw him as not being honest. Just optimistic combined with the desire to keep a friendly status with the organization and locker room. Could he have been more down the middle? Sure. But I understand his motivation and I don't think we would have gotten the inside stories without him 'making friends'.

I consider biased to be dishonest, and he was very biased toward AJ until he was promoted and no longer the beat writer, when he started killing AJ

We really just have to wait it out.

We're going to raid's someones practice squad during the season or sign a guy like Max Starks. If Bryant McKinnie has set the market for him, 2 year/$7M I have no problem giving that to Starks. Really don't mind Demetress Bell or Jamaal Brown on a 1 year/$2-3M deal either. Not big on Sean Locklear, but he is similar to King Dunlap, excellent pass protector but not the best run blocker, so I don't mind him either.

Or we could trade for Rodger Saffold. Though looks highly unlikely at this point.

    Max Starks
    Jamaal Brown
    Demetress Bell
    Sean Locklear
    Rodger Saffold (via trade)

    my rankings right now.
