SAN DIEGO (AP)—The San Diego Chargers have signed tight end Charles Davis to a one-year contract and released linebacker James Holt.

Davis spent a month with the Chargers in 2009 before being released during final cuts. Davis has also spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars and the UFL’s New York Sentinels and Hartford Colonials. A fifth-round pick of the Steelers in 2006, he has yet to play in a regular-season NFL game.

Holt joined the Chargers in 2009 as an undrafted rookie free agent.
