Probably will replace Brandon Moore on the 53 man roster.

Nope, according to Gehlkin were putting Scafe on IR. So really, how much better is our depth with this move? Were pretty much just switching him out for Scafe, and Moore remains on the roster. Also it appears as if Sean is a NT, not a DE. I was under the impression we were good at NT cause we have Geathers, and DE was much more pressing(we have Wynn and Moore as depth- ugh, thats a HUGE drop off form Liuget/Reyes).

edit: Ok according to Gehlkin hes versatile and can play all 3 line spots. Seems like a good move then, although I would of rather had Scafe on the roster then Moore, but it looks like his foot injury was more serious then we thought.

Chargers agree to terms with Reggie Walker
Posted by Josh Alper on September 1, 2013, 1:01 PM EDT
    AP
Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt coached the Cardinals for the last six years, giving him insight into the abilities of any veteran members of the team that were cut loose as Arizona went to 53 players.

It stands to reason, then, that Whisenhunt’s opinion probably helped linebacker Reggie Walker earn a job with the Chargers. Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that Walker has agreed to a contract with San Diego.

Given the fact that the majority of Walker’s work came on special teams with Arizona, it probably doesn’t hurt that Chargers special teams coach Kevin Spencer also made the trip from the desert to San Diego this offseason. The Chargers keptDonald Butler, Manti Te’o, D.J. Smith, Bront Bird and Andrew Gachkaron their initial 53-man roster.

Walker had 50 tackles in 48 games for the Cardinals over the last four years.

Chargers have cut former Packers LB D.J. Smith, source says. Creates space for ex-Cardinals LB Reggie Walker, who agreed to one-year deal.

    Alt. headline:
    "Cowboys Decide Less is More"

As if a 2015 7th rounder wasn't enough of an indicator
(what, Spanos wasn't willing to pony-up a full six pack of Lone Star?)
that Lissemore isn't a game changer at this point...
you can choose between groin injury or fresh (less than 3 days) concussion...

    http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/post/_/id/4713708/sean-lissemore-goes-down-with-an-injury

Yes, Lissemore does have some 3-4 experience, but I'm not too excited about this signing...

and Reggie Walker doesn't have a start in any of his 4 seasons... :(

Drake Nevis, too, may work out, but is no cause for celebration...

I do not like this move at all! I thought D.J. Smith should of been the #2 ILB behind Te'o, thought he clearly outplayed Bront Bird throughout the preseason. Smith led the team in tackles vs the 49ers, with 6 I believe. This is my least favorite move by TT so far, closely followed by letting Keiser go.

DJ Smith was more then just a special teams player as well, which it all this new guy sounds to be.

Telesco did scout and draft him, so I suppose it makes sense. Certainly can't hurt. This is probably for Moore's spot.

How good is this guy? Seems like somewhat of a draft bust(drafted by TT nonetheless)? Wikipedia says he was one of the top DE prospects for the 2011 draft, went in the 3rd round, but has only played in 14 and only started in 3 over the last 2 seasons.

Maybe the guy was just saving himself for the chance that he would get to play for the Chargers this season...

Oh, probably marginally...if only because resources were shifted from other positions to
deepen the depth chart at D-line.

But there is nothing about the NFL careers--so far, at least--of Lissemore or Nevis that
predicts that they will be significant upgrades to our roster.

Is Terrell Manning an inside or outside LB? Either way I don't see how thats much of an upgrade over Keiser or DJ Smith.

Why not? We already drafted Teo. Just add Tebow and move to LA. :p

He's definitely an inside LB in a 3-4. So again I'm wondering where's the pass rusher? Or are they seriously happy with English/Williams/Freeney/Johnson?

They are backups, plain and simple. If they are upgrades over the former backups, then that's still an upgrade.

I dunno, the Lessimore move is looking like a steal. Former 3rd round pick in 2011, and according to the NFL.com article had a great rookie year. Cowboys signed him to a 6yr extension. But due an injury he under performed last year, and then Rob Ryan switched it to a 4-3 scheme. Most of the Cowboy fans are calling this another dumb founding move by Jerry Jones. I wouldn't be surprised if he jumps past Wynn to be the top back up. We'll see, but a 7th round pick for a guy with this much upside is great value.

Edit: sorry Nevis is the former 3rd round pick, Lissemore was a 7th.

I love the fact that this guy can play all 3 positions, also takes away one of our major needs if A) Cam Thomas falters or B) puts a high price on himself and decides to test free agency next year.
