I don't get how you continue to fail to grasp this very simple concept.

Who cares who "developed" the team?

The bottom line is, Marty had that 14-2 team and couldn't win anything in the playoffs with them.

Whether or not he is responsible for developing them is irrelevant, he couldn't do anything important with them.

Norv had that same team, handed to him or not, and took them further than Marty could.

The concept that Conc and SL don't seem to grasp is that Nov was given a better team than that 14-2 team that Marty developed.
McCardell was our goto guy during that entire season. We had to face the Patsies without him. With Floyd on IR and it being Jackson's rookie season... who else did we have?
I always liked Parker... too bad he choked in the biggest game of his career.

A concept other's don't grasp is that I'm not looking to bring back Marty. But the decision was all about emotions and that's ALWAYS the wrong decision!

Who knows but our chances would have been better. Much better.
Rivers and the defense played their hearts out but again... the experience on the side of the Patsies took over.

Another thing that is over looked... Ponies are on their way down. Thankfully, Sproles fumble in the endzone and Rivers horrible interception didn't cost us the game. It went into overtime.

The Steelers ate us alive because Norv expected us to win with the same game plan he had against the Ponies.
Like I said "had we got a respectable loss against the Steelers... I'd be singing his praises." Any other coach would have know that using Sproles that same way against the Steelers defense ain't gonna cut it!!!

Point taken but you're wrong... Norv had a BETTER team handed to him!!!

All this comparison of Norv to Coryell and Ross is garbage.
a.) Both were handed Horrible teams.
b.) Both made them into winning teams.
c.) Most important of all... this team has 10 times the talent as both teams!!!

We'll never see a team like this again!!!
We don't get a Super Bowl title with this team, it will go down as the biggest waste of an era in NFL history!!!!

What ever happened to the "so easy, a caveman can do it" scenario? :icon_shrug:

I hope this is the season!!! :bolt:

I feel that way too but for some reason, I doubt AJ sees it that way.
The only way AJ MIGHT ditch Norv is if we don't make the playoffs.
That won't happen cause 8-8 might be enough this season too.
    Hell... maybe even 7-9.

There is nothing left of this dead horse, but he just keeps whipping away. He is like Pavlov's dog. Ring the Norv bell...

    Call it comedy relief.

Looking back over the last 3-4yrs, its a damn travesty that the Chargers havn't won at least 1 Super Bowl. But I think we can all honestly say this years team is better than any of those teams.

In 2006 we had no recievers and a bad secondary (despite being 14-2) and we lost to the Pats in a playoff FLUKE because of damn Marlon McCree.
In 2007 it was the coaching overhaul combined with big injuries to big players in the playoffs.
In 2008 it was the injury bug combined with our jackass DC who will remain nameless...

I can't think of any serious negatives this year, as long as we stay healthy not even Norv Turner can sink this ship.

Unprepared to start... that's why we had slow starts in the past two seasons.
No discipline... that's why we saw stupid penalties and arguments on the side line.
No leadership... In many games, our guys looked lost on the field.
So all in all... it take A LOT more strain to win and that increases the chance of injuries.

All in all... I think the players can do it this season same way the Cowboys players did it with Switzer as HC.

And all our team had to do is lose one game and the Donks choke job means nothing. But the FACT is that our guys won four must win games. YOU choose to give credit to nobody for this and would rather wring your hands and talk **** about the division and everything else.

You choose to spend a bunch of time tearing the team down so you can make your case against a guy you CLEARLY don't like. The team sucks, the division sucks, the sun was in someone's eyes, someone thought they heard their mom calling, blah, blah, blah.

I am a fan of the team, I choose to look at the positives about last season and look forward to the coming season. Why spend a bunch of time crying about what happened last year and what MIGHT happen this year. The book on 2009 hasn't been written yet.

OMG!!! THIS IS FREAIN' HILARIOUS!!! :hilarious: :hilarious:

First things first... This is not golf, tennis, bowling, etc. Norv is NOT the team!!! Most people in here don't like Ryan Leaf. That's doesn't mean they hate the team!!!
I never bashed the players but there are plenty of other posters who have. Go hug them!!

The part that you and Conc seem to have an extremely tough time understanding is that we did NOT control our own destiny last season. When you have to rely on another team losing multiple games in a row... it called a stoke of luck. A first grader could understand that!!!

Oh, and I do give credit... THANK GOD FOR SHANAHAN!!!
He did wayyyyyy more for us than Norv!!!

Anyway... I'm sure Norv plays golf during the off season. Sell your season tickets to a real Chargers fan and go watch Norvy play golf!!! That way, Norv is 100% responsible for any victory and you'll be in Heaven!!!

Just keep minimizing ANYTHING good that happens with the team, it's expected anyway. I fully understand that it all could have been for nothing if Denver hadn't choked, I have never contended otherwise. But the FACT is that the team could have folded, given up, checked out. But they didn't. So regardless of all the other **** you want to cling to, the team stuck together, continued to play hard, and did what they needed to do.

It's all in the past anyway, who cares except for people who want to spend in inordinate amount of time and energy trying to further their own agenda.
