It was actually at that point at least last year, but people in here wanted to deny it.

His decision to keep Norv last season impacted the coaches available to us among last seasons options who were hired. It has no impact on our options this offseason.

How much do we blame ownership for not forking over more dollars in AJ's budget?

I agree with one modification. Deano needs to apologize during a game, like Ray Kroc did to Padres fans in the 70s. Then he needs to fire Norv and AJ in public. Why you ask...well they have squatted and taken many dumps in front of the Bolt fans the past six years it is time to see AJ and Norv get dumped on too!

I understand all the reasons for keeping Norv... but one big reason for firing him now is:

He can't be retained at the end of the season if he is already gone.

The fear of seeing Norv prowling te sidelines for another season haunts me now- like the boogie man in my closet did when I was seven.

Norv needs to be gone yesterday. AJ just needs to be taken out to the woodshed and get things clear. I know he's forgot about O-linemen and maybe just maybe a through lashing will clear things up. Otherwise, they start all over from ground zero and we fans may have to endure 2-3 more down years.

The John Spanos era just got fast forwarded 2-3 years. Everyone welcome Daddy's little boy to the fold. This scares the hell out of me. If he screws up then who is going to fire him? Jerry Jones has ruined the Cowboys so why should this be any different. The firing had to happen and I'm glad it seems to be coming so now we can try to come together as fan base and fight like hell to keep this team in San Diego.

How did it get "fast forwarded 2-3 years"? Raye will now take AJ's spot for the near future. I don't see how that accelerates John taking the GM spot.

AJ had 2 years left on his current deal, (I think?) I just have big concerns about the owners son being the GM. I hope he never gets there and takes over for Dean.

Yeah, and now Raye will serve that time...... possibly longer. The change may actually act to prolong the ascension of John Spanos to GM. How can that be a bad thing? ;)

And as Acee pointed out in his article....... Jimmy Raye never wanted Buster Davis. That surely is a plus in his column.

I think that we're all assuming that Spanos as GM is a bad thing. What if he's an amazing manager? I'm really apprehensive about labeling it as a negative, because nobody is Jerry Jones. Jerry Jones has been able to buy everything he wants his whole life. He wanted the Cowboys, so he bought them, he wanted a stadium, so he bought one. I don't think that Spanos, in spite of clearly being wealthy, has ever enjoyed that level of absurd affluence.

Either way, I'm glad that the extreme arrogance of the Lord of No Rings is out the door.

Read his bio, he's worked for the league office for three years, interned for chargers in high school and worked his way up ladder including being taught by jimmy raye and Ed macguire. Did he get an extra leg up for being a spanos? Obviously, parents who own or build something important like to keep it in the family. But he isn't some fool given the position because of his last name. He's done his time and worked his way up the ladder

I don't trust anything Acee writes. He has been proven to be a very unreliable journalist.

I would rather have someone who has been in the league for at least 10 years, and possibly from a franchise that has been successful

Spanos is going to be involved in running the team, no question and you might as well ask the tide to go the other direction. Raye, I honestly don't know. He's not a sycophant, he's been on top lists of GM candidates for years and has earned the chance to be a GM.

But that won't stop a segment of the fan base bitching about it because of his last name.

Once Norv and A.J. are gone, they will need something new to bitch about, so I guess that's as good as anything.
