Ridiculous he fell 35 spots. Thats alright though, under the radar, under valued, looked past. I like all those terms for our team. Let the other teams worry about the game after us.
I like how Moose and Warner were defending him saying "There aren't 60 players they'd rather have than Philip Rivers" but then Sapp had to chime in that "Arrogance doesn't win you jewelry at Tiffany's " then he went on to say this year, with a worse offense than last year Rivers won't even make it as high as 61 or even be on the list. That pissed me off
What also pisses me off is there are 8 more QB to go on this list, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Eli, CAM, Stafford, Ryan, ?????????????? It better not be Alex Smith
The Top 100 is one of the dumbest shows on TV. Let's have a popularity contest among NFL players, count them down on an hour long show ten at a time, have another hour long show REACTING to the popularity contest, and also take up segments of other shows talking about the upcoming countdown show and reaction show. It's just stupid.
Its a recognition piece, It acknowledges players achievements in the game they play, what I don't like is instead of going off what that player did its more of a popularity contest. The fact that they're even talking about Peyton Manning being a top player in 2011 is a joke. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/...yers-no-influence-here-other-than-scouts-film This is a better ranking list and not just because Rivers is top 20
Weddle will make it, but I'd be surprised if Gates makes it. One bad year in San Diego and you become forgotten by the masses.....I mean idiots.
Im sure Weddle will make an appearance but honestly aside from Gate, and Spikes I don't think anyone else deserves to be on there. Sure there's Jackson, but I don't think he would go ahead of White plus he's more of a "it was fun while it lasted but I won't shed a tear if you don't find success outside of San Diego" and Butler needs to be on there but he like many of our other players are underrated. Like I said it a popularity contest
I wish they'd mic up PR every. single. week. Love listening to him talk G-rated trash Sapp saying he doesn't like the trash talk cracks me up. He's the biggest blow hard there is. Defensive players are the only ones who can talk? Shut your (broke) pie-hole
Sapp makes me laugh but I would like to see Rivers shove it in his pie-hole. Maybe they'll get to face off on NFLN one day.
But Gates didn't have a bad year. If you project his production in 13 games over a 16 game season, he would have had 78 catches for 944 yards and 9 TDs. That's damn good. Football Outsiders ranked Gates as the 3rd most valuable TE last year, behind only Gronk and Graham: http://footballoutsiders.com/stats/te
Did we forget the Phil had a really shatty season? Remember all of those INT's that were just..... WTF? If he would have admitted that he was injured then he would have ranked higher.
Funny, Rivers worst year as a Bolt was up there with Brees' best year as a Bolt and he still don't get no respect.
He had an off year so he deserves to be ranked much lower than he was after an MVP-caliber year. I agree with the placement, but not with some of the players, and QBs especially that are going to be ahead of him
Loved that shucks-talk... and that td pass to Floyd was a thing of beauty. Oh, and Sapp makes no sense. He talked about ranking them (Rivers and Vick) on their future production/success. His Nostradamus impression didn't impress me, not because of his dislike for Rivers, but because of his idiotic logic.
Granted it was by default but Rivers worst year is still pro bowl material I feel a lot had to do with the O line, as the season went on and once we had Gaither Rivers got better
