Once your life is one the line, skin color or political affiliations go right out the door.

It's pretty well documented that the folks back at home have their own battles while the Warrior is away doing whatever it is he/she does. When my own son was deployed to Afghanistan. I worried myself to death everyday he was gone. When he returned and I pinned the CIB I had earned in Vietnam on him to represent the CIB he had earned, I was one proud Papa.

I feel bad for your dad; whatever demons he was fighting upon his return, I know he was doing the absolute best that he could.

Frankly, skin color/political affiliations were never on my mind in those times when it was him or me.

I ain't never been scared.
