    Green scouting

Biography: Three-year starter awarded all-conference honors since his sophomore season and named to several All-American teams the past two years. Senior totals included 51 receptions/606 yards/8 TDs after he had 44/794/7 the prior year.

Positives: Pass-catching tight end who looks more like a large possession receiver on the field. Fluid releasing off the line of scrimmage, immediately gets to top speed and uses his large frame and strength as an advantage to out muscle defenders. Gets vertical, adjusts in midair and highpoints the throw. Comes across the middle, adjusts to make the reception in stride and looks the ball into his hands. Consistently makes the tough catch in traffic. Moves well in every direction of the field. Plays with good body control. Bends his knees, blocks with leverage and stays square.

Negatives: Has marginal blocking strength and struggles controlling opposing linebackers. Not a true downfield threat.

Analysis: Green watched his game takeoff the past two seasons and has been one of the better big-play tight ends in the nation. He's a solid pass catcher with consistent hands and the frame to get stronger in time. Green will be effective as a move tight end at the next level in a system that constantly puts him in motion before the snap.

    Projection: 4th

Not sure he can block for S but he looks like a real pass catching threat. Philip and Norv might just turn him into another Gates type player. Here's hoping anyway.

I'm hppy with Green, but it makes me wonder if we would have taken Ta'amu if the Steelers hadn't jumped us.

im still really concerned with our RB need... maybe AJ is planning on signing a veteran free agent? or maybe he has a gem hes waiting to take late?

Either the Steelers have a spy in our war room or they just perceived us as a threat to take him because we are another 3-4 team.

Dont worry too much. In a few weeks when rosters are being trimmed down, there will be a decent option for backup RB available to snatch up.

Dallas was also ahead of them, and rumored to be in the NT market too.

I'm really hoping we Cyrus Gray falls to us in the 5th, he does everything well, would be an ideal #2 RB.

Yeah, they've already spent their next 15 first round picks on QB, once one more late round pick?

The 49ers drafted Joe Looney in this round. Too bad they did not go to the same team.

I'm ashamed to admit I saw his dad play. In fact I remember his dad being drafted. Son of Al, who was a star with the Jets. Wonder does it fall far from the cradle!?.

He was drafted a few spots before Jerry Rice if ol memory serves!!.
