With a brutal closing schedule and an 8-5 record that puts them two games behind AFC West division leader Denver and in a desperate fight for a playoff spot, San Diego can be expected to arrive at the RCA Dome on Sunday with all its weapons primed.
The Indianapolis Colts (13-0) plan to answer in kind.
"This week I think we're going to play it as a normal game, a game we want to win and we're going to do everything we can to win it," Colts coach Tony Dungy said Monday. "Once we get to the two NFC games, I'm not sure how we're going to handle those."
The Colts wrapped up the AFC's No. 1 seed and with it a first-round bye and home field throughout the conference playoffs by winning 26-18 at Jacksonville on Sunday. They don't need to beat San Diego, but they won't back off for a number of reasons.</blockquote>
