E X E R C I S E ! ! ! ! Are you obsessive compulsive? Did nobody want to share lockers with you in middle school because you would freak out if they didn't keep their half clean and neat? If so, Dr. Phil can help
I feel so much better mentally and physically when I exercise than when I don't...I always try to squeeze in at least 1/2 hour of cardio every day (an hour on my off work days) and some weight resistance a few times a week. I am going to soon incorporate either yoga or pilates. I have a Nordic Track ellipitical at home which is really good when I can't go to the gym...because I can then watch tv at the same time...yesterday I watched two episodes of MeerKat Manor :icon_tease: Every step you take throughout the day counts. The American Heart Association says to aim for 10,000 which counts the exercise, day to day activities, etc.
I use to lift weights when I was a little younger:rolleyes2:. But every time I stopped (Thanksgiving to just after New Years), I would put on ten to fifteen pounds. And when I started back, the weight didn't come off. After several years of doing this, I went from 165 lbs to over 230 pounds. I'm in the process of trying to shed 15% of my body weight. My doctor is *****ing me out about my eating habits and consumption of colas.
I get most of my exercise from running (about 20 miles a week). All you needs is a good pair of running shoes and your good to go.
Pushing 50 is about the only exercise I get these days!! Personally, I like gardening, sex, and swimming as forms of exercise---they're fun, and they don't FEEL like "exercise". Yet you still get your cardio AND your muscle work, plus with the first two activities you get to create something beautiful while you're enjoying yourself. (At least until you get to be my age and some of the equipment doesn't work anymore...........)
That is great Kimmie. I wish I could work out at home, but it just doesn’t feel the same. Lately I’ve been cutting WAY DOWN on weight lifting, going for like 80% cardio. As I’m getting older, it is getting more and more difficult to look lean with so much muscle mass. So now I’m going for more of a swimmer/surfer body type, it actually looks better for me anyways since I am not an extremely tall man. It is very warm today, so I am going to run outside on my lunch hour. I can take off my shirt even. PS. My kids started watching Meerkat Manor, but the Animal Channel plays commercials like every 3 minutes. The show doesn’t have time to flow.
Good luck with that. I couldn't help but notice the lack of definition on your arms and upper body in those tailgate pics that you were in.
Apparently not, because he says it feels as good as having sex and I have never had a comparable weight lifting experience.
I go jogging and do push ups. Living by the beach makes jogging a lot more fun. I run 2.5 miles on the bay beach 3-4 times a week and do 100 push ups in the days between.
Weak, I shotgunn 2 beers and then I do 1000 push ups in the A.M. and top it off with 1,500 push ups at night and shotgunn 4 Bud lights

I would recommend the "ab wheel." You can buy one ant any department store for about $8 and it lasts forever. It works your abs much better than sit ups without putting strain on your back. It also works you arms and legs. I've had mine for about six years and still use it today. <a href="http://s164.photobucket.com/albums/u19/TDamien/?action=view¤t=2007319438024327.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u19/TDamien/2007319438024327.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
I'm not looking to bulk up. Just keep in good shape so I can get the best out of cool activities like swimming, surfing, mountain biking, skiing, etc. Also so I can enjoy good food and beer without wearing it.
