Poison opened for Ratt in Oakland (Ratt was great). For a 16 year-old kid it was quite an experience. :bolt: :lttehghost: :abq2: :icon_party:

January 2nd 1988 in Missoula, Montana.....me, my dad, and Alice Cooper.
The opening band was supposed to be Motorhead, but they were held up in England due to visa reasons. Instead, a young band was called in from Seattle, Washington. The band was Screaming Trees (a great "grunge band") 4 years before Nirvana's "Smells like Teen Spirit" makes everyone in that area code famous.

Alice is, of course, known for his gory stage show. I was front row-center as an 11 year old...getting pelted with random gore/glitter and COVERED in fake blood. I got most of it, but my dad got alot too.

Since we were rural folk in the big city for a spell, we decided to go pick up some groceries before we went the 80 miles home. The looks we got as I went through the store yelling loudly (post concert hearing = loud talking) while covered in blood. Im surprised they didnt call the cops.

Years later, on a John Lennon tribute album, Screaming Trees would cover "Working Class Hero".....my dad's favorite song.

    The B-52's
    Hollywood Palladium
    1980

All my friends were still into Zepplin, Rush and Black Sabbath and they though I'd lost it for going to this "punk rock" concert.

My sister just went to the RATT/Poison Concert last week here. Her best friend is frontman Stephen Pearcy's sister.

They got to go behind the stage and party like rock stars.:icon_party:

I was at the same concert, Fournier was the headliner, Van Halen had released their first album two weeks before and AC/DC did not have an album out yet.

Van Halen put on a great show, as did a oiled-up girl walking around in a pink bikini.

The first X-fest at the stadium. Tom Petty, Bowowow, the Ramones, the Stray Cats, and some other band... I think that was Modern English.

The Stray Cats were my favorite act. Great show.

    I think it was in 1983 or 84... I was 14.
