I never got to see Maiden and I regret it to this day. Nick that's funny. I remember that concert and night like it was yesterday. We went with my buddy's HOT *** older sister and friends. My hair was down to my *** back in those days. Good times.
Late 70's Van Halen. It was David Lee Roth's birthday and someone threw a bottle of Jack Daniels on stage and the dude chugged half the bottle. Cops had us handcuffed to the chain link fence because they caught us toking reefer before the concert at the Sports Arena in Diego. They did not take my ceramic lion's head bong and the cop said "this is cool". :icon_eek: They let us go in time for the concert. No tickets from the cops. No nada. Great concert.
You know... I've been to an arena where Poison was playing three times (Philadelphia Spectrum and US Air Arena in DC) but never went in. I was never a fan of hair metal but all the partying and chicks in the parking lot was worth $5!!! :icon_toast:
First concert for me: February 27, 1976 KISS at the San Diego Sports Arena. Some warmup band called "The Rockets" went on first. :nana_guitar: :icon_guitar: :rockout: :icon_beerbang: :nana_rock: My father took me since I was only about 7 years old. Some dude behind us was banging on a doobie :nana_rasta: :icon_high: and my father turned around and said "I wondered what smelled good". The guy offered us a toke. :icon_eek:
Just as BDH said... I missed Maiden, too. Bummer. I still rock 'em in my iPod on my Mtn Bike rides, though. Quiet Riot!! I saw them in Chico a few years ago. Hilarious! They played this bar called LaSalle's. My buddy was smokin' a cig outside and he ran in laughing his asss off. He could barely contain himself when he said: "Quiet Riot just showed up!! In a Mini Van!!!" :icon_rofl:
  No mullet bro; **** was long everywhere. No wonder my girlfriend's redneck dad wanted to shoot my ***.
I saw Maiden at Anaheim Stadium in 84. The show was Foreigner, Loverboy, Scorpions and Maiden. :icon_party: When I moved to Vegas in 95. Kevin Dubrow ( Quiet Riot ) was one of the morning DJ's on KOMP 92.3 FM.
I saw Rush and Y&T on Rush's Grace under Pressure tour, the lead singer made this long speech about the integrity of rock and roll and how bands that were all flash were ruining rock and roll, then during thier next song they had some guy in a silver robot suit come out on stage... kinda blew his whole integrity talk... Rush; however, burned through a set that was a thing of beauty...
Shoulda been my first real concert The 1982 US festival. This happened when I was a freshman is high school. I was living in Oceanside and had a bunch of friends going. I didn't drive yet, but I had planned on going with them. I was a huge Clash fan at the time and I really wanted to see them. The parents said no way I was going. I tried running away so I could go, but I got caught. What ended up being my first real concert 6/17/1983 - U2 at the LA Sports Arena (War Tour). I have seen U2 many times since, but if I remember, I think The Alarm was the opening band. My actual first concert. I don't really count this because we didn't go intending to see the concert. This around 1978 or 1979. I think I was in 6th or 7th grade. We had gone to Disneyland and my sister found out the Sister Sledge was was playing at the Space Mountain Concourse. Woo Hoo, we got to sit through an entire Sister Sledge Disneyland concert. Actually, I wanted to get out of there and jump on some rides. Concert I'm most embarrassed that I went to. This was around 1989 or 1990. I won tickets from a radio station to go to the Milli Vannilli concert. I wasn't going to go, but my gf at the time really wanted to see them. She acted like an idiot trying to get back stage. I also remember telling her that they were just lip syncing the songs. This was about a year before they got caught.
OK. Mine is fun...I was like 6 or 7. The Eagles Hell Freezes Over tour...yeah. Little kids and a bunch of people smokin' pot in the arena. FUN STUFF.
I can't believe I'm admitting this.. escpecially online but I took this coworker to see Brian Adams.. At the SD sports arena.. I actually thought he sucked compared to the opening act! What a WASTE of a birthday present for a 16 yr old! LOL Hawkeye (Vince)
