I like what Kevin O'Connell said today on the radio....... Dalton's play in bad weather has been terrible in the past. He has smallish hands, and doesn't grip the ball well in bad weather. Despite the common wisdom, the Chargers actually have the advantage in cold rain/sleet type weather. Rivers winning percentage in games played under 40 degrees is quite good.

Should be a great game nonetheless.. I do think the Chargers are more apt to sticking w/ the Run than the Bengals. Quietly, that has been the biggest improvement I've seen from SD

Having JJ, Ingram, Dunlap, and hopefully Royal present this time around should be huge too.

And I've heard on the radio Newman is doubtful for the game. So where we saw Rivers getting harassed constantly in our last matchup, he may just have a little more time and some more open receivers.

    I'm cautiously confident.

Nice breakdown Em. Thanks for picking the been gals, still gals...and not mentioning
Mathews and Woodhead by name in your preview.
Yes, the Eagles home-opener vs. the Chargers is still in effect.
    Go Bolts!

I would also add that the pressure is all on the Bengals, since they have a 22 year drought in the playoffs, and are 0-4 under Lewis. No one expected the Chargers to even make the playoffs, so they can play free. They've already proved that they can win on the road in KC and Denver (and that was a cold game too).

I'm liking the Bolts chances. :)

Me too. The Chargers have played very well on the road this season. Usually, whichever team's QB plays the best in the playoffs wins the game. My money is on Rivers. Dalton has been a turnover machine in the playoffs.

I'm snooping around their "Chargers Week Notes Part Deux" thread and find it entertaining. Half of the posters expect a walk in the park while the other half are cautiously optimistic. There have also been quite a few misconceptions about our team discussed there, but its mostly stuff that I wouldn't expect an opposing team's set of fans to know about the Chargers.

As for Diggy's thread... yeah man, they're trying their hardest to pile it on you haha.

The last time we played, Gates uncharacteristically had two turnovers, and we lost by 7..... another of our 1 score defeats. Our offensive line was significantly different than they will be for this upcoming game. Back then, Fluker had to play LT, Clary moved back to RT, and Troutman came in at guard. That won't be the case Sunday. Dunlap is back at LT, Fluker at RT, and Clary back to RG. Troutman is again just a backup.

Our defense had trouble stopping the run, and Cam Thomas lost playing time to Lissemore after that game. But, we were without both Jarret Johnson and Melvin Ingram back then. They will both be playing this time. Butler and Te'o have had more time playing together, so our front 7 as whole will be better than the prior matchup.

With all these players back, we should be better at sustaining drives on offense, and better stopping the run and creating pressure on the QB than before. The Bengals will be facing a better Chargers team, and by all reports, the Bengals have been weakened by injuries in the past few weeks. The Chargers will be tougher to defeat this time around.
