Last time I checked...our run D was ranked #1 in the nation, and our pass D isn't.....lol. We can stop a run game, we cant stop a pass game at all.
They have a good running back...and it was against the Raiturds. I'm actually a little more nervous about our own Offense than anything that the Bucs might throw at us...
The Raiders still scored 32 points. Palmer attempted 61 passes. 61. And threw for 414 yards.. McFadden only got 7 carries. Did he get injured or were the Raiders that dumb to play away from their strengths? I'm not worried about our D.. I'm worried about our corners and offensive line. The run-d will show up and stop Martin. The pass rush needs to show up and our corners and offensive line needs to show up!
This thread makes me want to puke. I was and still think that VJ is probably the best all around player at his position in some time. And we let him go for ? marks.
He still isn't worth the $55+ million they gave him. In the end, Doug Martin will be worth much more.

Yes, he sustained a leg injury and did not return to the game. X-rays did not show anything initially, but you never know.
Hmmm! It would be very cheeky of me to inform you that corners also play on D, unless you perhaps meant to say that you are not worried about our run D? On the other hand, it could have been a Freudian slip whereby you mistook the offensiveness of our corners as actually being on the Offensive unit!
Do we have to worry about Doug Martin? Yes, but more because if our offense isn't able to put together long drives our defense will be on the field all day, and a young, strong RB working on the field all day tends to wear down a defense.
Don't me wrong I am cheering loudly for our Bolts this weekend but I reckon this should be the game that ends Norv's reign. Bucs should handle us easily. Do it Deano.
Raiders have been dumb with how they use D-Mac all year. He is healthy, but is getting hit behind the LOS more often than not
I think we can keep Dougie Doug under 100. Basically every long run Doug Martin had was a cutback to the strong side through the middle with the Raiders linebackers over pursuing and leaving a huge hole. JJ covers that side for us and he may be the best linebacker in football at keeping back side containment and stopping those types of cutbacks. Now if he gets outside on Cason's side we may have issues because CrimeTime #2 don't tackle.
The Chargers run D couldn't shut down Trent Richardson after having two weeks to prepare for him. So don't go thinking this one's in the bag in terms of holding Martin in check.
I'm fully on board with the complaint that we shouldn't have let VJ walk, but let's not paint him as better than he really is. I can think of at least 3 or 4 WRs just off the top of my head who are better. Hint: one of them plays in Detroit.

We stopped Richardson in the 2nd half.. Bottom line is, that game was terrible. Terrible conditions, and perfect weather for a running back of Richardson's stature. Bolts D didn't show up in the 1st half thats for sure. Martin and Richardson aren't the same I would say. Were gonna be able to stop Martin.
Too bad the first half is where he did all of his damage. They're pretty damn similar. I love the confidence everyone's feeling right now, but don't be surprised if this kid rips off 150 and a couple TDS. at minimum he's going to have 150 combined yards, because he's more versatile than Richardson. This week will be the toughest match ups the chargers have had since Atlanta. Norv better have the offense ready for a track meet.
Come on man, Doug Martin is good, but people are hyping him up right now. I feel like he is the new Barry Sanders or something. They played the Raiders, and I just looked at Martin's runs, and I think Atari Bigby tackles better than all of Raiders defense. That was by far the worse defensive tackling I've seen in a while. Richardson had 36 yards in the 2nd half including 3 negative plays, and longest was 9 yards. Thats pretty good. We came out and made adjustments in the 2nd half. Every one of Tampa's running TD's came in the I-form. With Lorig, the FB blocking, and just terrible, TURRIBLE (Charles Barkley Voice) tackling by the Raiders.. I expect a good run defensive performance by SD..
Okee doke. Not saying you're wrong about the tackling. But I am saying you're wrong about Martin. He's the real deal. In the Ray Rice mold. Why do you think Schiano loves him and feeds him so much? The Chargers may shut him down on the ground (under 100 rushing), but he'll get his touches one way or another and do some damage. EDIT: I really do hope I'm wrong and somehow the Chargers make Tampa one-dimensional (not that they can stop that passing dimension :lol
