Ben Grubbs 5 year $36M to Saints http://blogs.nfl.com/2012/03/15/sai...n-5-year-36m-deal/?module=HP11_headline_stack
Seriously, I actually think that Megatron and Mario will be worth those contracts, but Laurent Robinson got over 30 million from the Rams, are you kidding me? Dude could barely make a squad. Plays well for part of one year, gets some TD's and wammo he gets 30+ Mil. M80 must be saying "Huh?". If we have 10 million left we need to sign Garay, sign Harris, Sign Tolbert, Jettison Hester, and at that point my guess is we have 3 or 4 mil left to use if we trade or pick someone up thats cut in June.
I agree, but I think once we fill the pass rushing OLB and SS needs, along with Pagano taking over, many of our issues may resolve themselves. Maybe that is just wishful thinking, time will tell
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...ith-cap-rising-in-future-years?module=HP11_cp Sure, many of the contracts, as always, are cloaked in the veil of five or six years, but this offseason in particular market forces are providing acute incentives to structure deals in a way to allow for maximum flexibility for both club and player after a year or two. Remember, the cap stayed static this year, which won't be happening again for quite some time (especially with the new TV contracts providing significant revenue in 2013 and 2014). Meanwhile, Robert Meachem's four-year deal with the San Diego Chargers, should it not work out for any reason over the long haul, could end up being two years, $14 million.
Robinson is in Jacksonville? And some TD's? >>>> He had 11 of them. we have more than $10M left, put about $3M aside for the draft and we have 7+ >>>> Garay and Harris should be retained first, then were looking at depth at Corner of Safety and then possibly signing Royal and Tolbert is still in the mix. Hester if he's willing to take under $1m on a 1 year deal or something like that is the only way I see him staying here to help on Special Teams..
Jim Rome tweeted today Miami and Jax don't want Tebow.. Don't know whether its true or not.. Put another strike on Miami in the sweepstakes for Manning, Mario Williams signed with Buffalo I'm sure Manning doesn't want to see that twice a year.
A guy that has played 15 games the past two seasons, compared to a guy that has had 180 straight starts or 250 consecutive games or something like that? I'd take Jarret Johnson all day..
If we retain Garay and/or Harris, it'll probably be much later. Let the market come down for guys like that and then from there, pick them up on the cheap. Still wondering about Corey Graham from the Bears, heard we were huge into him as a nickel and a STer but we haven't done anything. Also wonder why we haven't given Kendall Langerford (sp?) from Miami a look, he's a pretty good 3-4 DE
I'm not a huge fan of Royal as a receiver, but our STs just improved. Hopefully we didn't over pay too much.
Try $5M for the draft. I ran the numbers, assuming only a 10% bump from last years figures (which is reasonable), and that's right about what it's going to cost us when all is said and done.
Langford yes, But I know Miami wasn't a 3-4 team for sure. The schemed certain plays in the 3-4 so I don't know if Langford was used in that scheme or not. Corey Graham I read was on Bleacher Report for possible signings, don't know how true that is.. honestly I rather have Hughes back for a reduced price. But, if not I'll take Graham for the right price. Harris and Garay should both be under $2M, actually maybe not Garay not so much.
SAN DIEGO Mike from Irvine, CA: Is there any status update on Wimbley? Do the Chargers still have enough cap space to make a run at him if Oakland cuts him? BW: It might be tight, but the Chargers would be one of the teams interested. Raiders have to make a decision by Saturday. Perhaps they are waiting to cut him to see other teams spend money and take away options for him. Not saying that is the case, but it's within their right if they choose. http://espn.go.com/blog/afcwest/post/_/id/41348/chat-wrap-chargers-waiting-for-wimbley If we can get Wimbley, that would shore up the OLB position and allow us to go after SS, WR, and TE in the draft
UTKevinAcee @UTKevinAcee Eddie Royal caught the winning TD & two-point conversion in 2008 Hochuli game and in Oct. '09 returned punt and kickoff for TDs vs. Chargers
Ian R. Rapoport @RapSheet Source: The Patriots have agreed to terms with ex-Chargers safety Steve Gregory. Interesting. S who can play CB Retweeted by UTKevinAcee
UTKevinAcee @UTKevinAcee Just sayin: Hardwick, Meachem, Gaither, Johnson, McClain count $13.65 million against cap in 2012. Vincent Jackson's cap number=$13 million.
