Broncos Offer Manning $90 Million Over 5 Years http://predominantlyorange.com/2012/03/16/broncos-offer-manning-90-million-over-5-years/
Three's company Five years, $90 mil. That's what Denver and Tennessee are reportedly offering Peyton Manning, but San Fran's still in it too. Clark Judge handicaps the finalists. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl
Chargers not expected to re-sign Tolbert, who may head to Steelers Posted by Evan Silva on March 16, 2012, 10:56 PM EDTGetty ImagesKevin Acee of the Union-Tribune San Diegoreports that free agent running back Mike Tolbert and the Chargers “seem ready to separate” after intense contract negotiations this week that ultimately went nowhere. Tolbert is asking for more money than the Chargers offered, and he is scheduled to visit an undisclosed team on Saturday morning. San Diego has been in contact with another free agent running back, Jackie Battle, who would be a significant downgrade from Tolbert. On Twitter, Acee indicated that the Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Panthers have interest in Tolbert.
So KC Pit and Car thats 25% of the reported dozen teams that are interested in Mike. Hmm seems like Pit hurts almost as much as KC. As long as Frank is in our and we are in his long term plans lets make this intersting.
You can see we're moving into the dregs... after Hardwick, Meachem, JJ we're now looking at Bigby (if we have to with him at SS, shame on u AJ) and maybe even Battle. Jeeeeeez puhleeeeeeze. Let's stop this FA crap now and let's go draft some real players who can come in and contribute immediately.
Jerricho Cotchery to visit the Chiefs early next week Posted by Evan Silva on March 17, 2012, 1:37 PM EDTGetty ImagesWe previously mentioned that the Jets had interest in bringing free agent wide receiverJerricho Cotchery back to New York. They have competition. Manish Mehta of the New York Daily Newsreports that Cotchery is scheduled to visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday and Tuesday. Several members of Kansas City’s coaching staff have coached against Cotchery in the AFC East, including former Patriots defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel and former Patriots wide receivers coach Brian Daboll. Crennel is now Chiefs head coach and Daboll coordinates the offense. Daboll was on the Jets’ staff as quarterbacks coach in 2007 and 2008, when Cotchery enjoyed two of his better seasons. In K.C., Cotchery would compete for playing time with Steve Breaston and second-year wideout Jonathan Baldwin.
http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fa...18601/offseason-extra-free-agents-on-the-move Runningbacks Michael Bush, Raiders Free-agent status: Unrestricted Bush got an opportunity to show his strengths in nine starts without Darren McFadden totaling 740 rush yards, 308 receiving yards and five total touchdowns without a fumble in that span. Though he tailed off at the end of the year he proved that he can be considered a versatile, physical rushing threat and should be a key part of an offense in 2012. The Raiders franchised safety Tyvon Branch, opening the door for Bush to leave without issue. Likelihood of leaving: 85 percent Possible 2012 landing spots: Bengals, Browns, Colts, Jets, Packers Potential 2012 Fantasy value: At worst he'll split reps with someone and be a top-of-the-line No. 3 rusher worth a mid-round pick. At best he'll be considered the top back for a team and get snared by the end of Round 4. BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Patriots Free-agent status: Unrestricted Green-Ellis has been the Patriots' most reliable rusher over the last two seasons, totaling 24 touchdowns (at least 11 each year) and zero fumbles. But you'd think retaining a strong rusher with good goal-line skills who doesn't cough up the rock would be a priority in Bill Belichick's offense, wouldn't you? Green-Ellis has not re-signed and could very well be on the move. That could be for the better as Green-Ellis is a proven commodity who could benefit moving to a team where he's given more opportunities on a week-to-week basis. Last year Green-Ellis had seven games with less than 10 carries (and he scored in three of them), so there's certainly room for him to improve his production. Likelihood of leaving: 60 percent Possible 2012 landing spots: Bengals, Buccaneers, Browns, Chargers, Jets, Raiders Potential 2012 Fantasy value: At best, he'll split reps with a smaller, faster back and be a candidate to score 11-plus touchdowns again in 2012. At worst, he'll return to New England and give Fantasy owners headaches from week to week. Best 2 backs left on FA imo. Posted on Fri, and this guy is thinkin we could be a landing spot for Lawfirm.
What a shocker Brandon Lloyd to join back up with Josh McDbag in NE. Free-agent wide receiver Brandon Lloyd has agreed to terms with the New England Patriots, according to a league source. Lloyd, a 10-year veteran has played for the 49ers, Bears, Broncos, Redskins and Rams. The move reunites him with Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who coach Lloyd with the Broncos and later as offensive coordinator of the Rams. Llloyd had reportedly also received an offer from the 49ers.
Conflicting reports on Steelers, Tolbert March, 17, 2012 Mar 17 1:45 PM ETEmailPrintComments8By Jamison Hensley There are conflicting reports on whether the Steelers are interested in Chargers free-agent running back Mike Tolbert. The San Diego Union-Tribune suggested that the Steelers were the leaders for Tolbert, but the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette shot down that notion, saying there was no visit and that it's "not happening." We'll see how this one plays out, but I'm in favor of the Steelers pursuing Tolbert. He's a valuable role player who would complement Isaac Redman and would presumably come at an affordable cost.
http://blogs.nfl.com/2012/03/16/updated-salary-cap-information-for-all-32-teams/ As of yesterday this is our cap available. So if you add McMichael and Bigby to that we probably have around $10M in open space, and we need to save about $5M for the draft.
That should give us the space to get Wimbley when the Raiders cut him next week, or at least they are according to reports
There is not a big enough eye roll emoticon for this statement. BTW he was release this morning http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7697820/oakland-raiders-cut-kamerion-wimbley-7-sacks-2011
Winston gets $22 million over four years Posted by Mike Florio on March 17, 2012, 9:42 PM EDTGetty ImagesThe Chiefs have a new right tackle. And their new right tackle has a new contract. And we have a league source who knows what the contract is worth. And here’s the part where we tell you what it’s worth. Four years, $22 million. The specific details will come later, and we’ll break it all down then. For the Chiefs, it’s a relatively inexpensive investment in a quality player who can help shore up a position of need. The Texans cut Winston on Tuesday. He drew interest from several teams.
Well, everyone is saying we have $8mil available. So they should be able to structure his contract in a cap friendly manner
Chiefs sign Brady Quinn Posted by Michael David Smith on March 17, 2012, 7:22 PM EDTAPBrady Quinn is going to Kansas City. The Chiefs announced the signing of Quinn, a free agent quarterback who spent the last two seasons with the Broncos. In Kansas City he’ll back up Matt Cassel. Quinn entered the NFL as a first-round draft pick of the Browns in 2007, when Romeo Crennel was Cleveland’s head coach. This move reunites Quinn and Crennel, who’s now the head coach of the Chiefs. Although some analysts thought Quinn was poised for NFL stardom when he was at Notre Dame, things have not panned out for him professionally. In three years in Cleveland he started just 12 games and never distinguished himself, and in two years in Denver he never even got on the field for a regular-season game. The 27-year-old Quinn has a career stat line of 184-for-353 for 1,902 yards, with 10 touchdowns, nine interceptions and a passer rating of 66.8.
We had 14M yesterday (pre-Volek cut), Winston was easily affordable. But once again Clary's contract holds us back. Cant have that much invested in the RT position.
Well since he's not, we should see about fixing that. Re Mcneil, Winston signed with KC, Baccus resigned with Detroit, McNeil is rapidly running out of options. I almost wonder if he would be willing to come back to SD for reduced rate. I know he might not be great but dammit he's a HELL of a lot better than clary! With $5 million left, and they still need to add another NT, I don't know if there's that many other players they really can get. Battle might be chosen at RB just because he's the cheapest, and that assumes he can get past Brinkley. I wonder if we could get Garay back cheap too, not much of a market for him or for Franklin or Rodgers
I don't think in his current condition that he is better than Clary..... not as a RT anyway. That position requires a guy who can run block well...... never McNeill's forte.
Id love to see us grab Joe Mays.. underrated ILB that i dont think would exactly break the bank.. 26 years old and the dude is a straight head banger
