But for a guy your going to get 16 full games as the primary run stopping 3-4 OLB and a locker room leader it's not a bad investment
Actualy since you mentioned him I also heard McCluster is either getting converted to WR/ST or hes gone.
Im more excited about the McClain signing... before there was mike tolbert converting to rb from fb there was McClain doing it in Baltimore... him and mathews together in the backfield is 1 tough/mean/powerful backfield
Which will allow Barnes to be more effective at what he is good at....... rushing the passer. Our OLB rotation was too thin last year, and it showed. Bring Barnes in on passing downs and let him be fresh enough to cause some damage.
Thats why he was brought in. So Barnes can play third down and other obvious passing situations and Jarret will handle the rest. Gives Shaun and Barnes some rest. They both played too many snaps last year.
Bullsh_t! He was getting paid to play football. Too bad if the money isn't to his liking, he was drawing a salary. Playing games with his employer was chickenshit.
I certainly can't say for certain how Gaither will perform, but to say he quit once he got paid is flat out wrong. In Baltimore, he got pushed outof the LT position by Oher. He wasn't getting out-played - B'more apparently felt that they had to fulfill the whole "Blind Side" story. Truth is that Oher is a better fit at RT. I don't know the true story in KC. Seems pretty unlikely that Gaither was cut over 1 false start but stranger things have happened. I'm not supporting quitting on your team for ANY reason but I do think that Gaither in his preferred position at LT can be an upgrade over McNeill. At least his arms are bigger.
If the trade happens, Bye Bye Gabbert. Their new owner has one goal in mind, selling tickets and he knows Tebow will do that, at least short term.
Still think we need a pass rushing specialist in this draft. I think this draft provides more potential and a higher ceiling for pass rushing OLB then next years. We'll need somebody to replace Shaun Phillips and Barnes', LaBoy's, English's contracts are up after 2012 too. But I do not have confidence in Norv and AJ to select Perry if he comes around, i have a feeling due to the lack of success English has had they feel like drafting an OLB in the top 20 is a waste of a pick. Especially if they see Jarret Johnson as our pass rushing specialist they"ll feel there is no need to waste a top 20 pick on a position of no need
JJ can rush the passer adequately but he can't be seen as the 'specialist' we need surely. Instead I reckon we should still be looking at pass rushing beast in round 1.
Yeah, poor billionaires. Either way it doesn't matter now, for 1yr/3M I'm not passing on a great football player because of something like that. He's obviously happy enough with this deal to give 100% and have the big pay day carrot dangled in front of his face for next year. This was a great move by the Chiefs, and given how poor we've been at stopping power runners I think its going to pay off for them in spades.
Except that he will be whining by mid-season when Jamal Charles is getting the majority of the carries
I think they'll use him like they did Thomas Jones, and both guys end up getting 200+ carries. The problem will be keeping Dwayne Bowe and Jonathan Baldwin happy.
Contract numbers from Kevin Acee Jarret Johnson: $19 million over 4 yrs, $10m in 1st 2 yrs; J. Gaither: $24.6m over 4 yrs, $13.5m in 1st two yrs; L. McClain $8.25m for 3 yrs Gaither ($8 million) and Johnson ($6 million) get nice signing bonuses. Their $1 million base salaries keep cap numbers low.
I don't think those are ridiculous contracts. I am a little surprised by Johnson's, but I don't think it is ridiculous
UTKevinAcee @UTKevinAcee Gaither ($8 million) and Johnson ($6 million) get nice signing bonuses. Their $1 million base salaries keep cap numbers low.
UTKevinAcee @UTKevinAcee RT @tweetwithrico: What sort of cap room we have left? >Not in the mood for math. (It's only 8 a.m. in Hawaii). But more than $10 million.
Is that how you think? I'm not talking about the deal, I am talking about your comment that he was "rightfully" stealing from his employer. Since he is employed by billionaires, it is perfectly acceptable for him to have a signed contract and intentionally cheat them by not fulfilling his end of the deal?
It's pretty reasonable all things being equal, I'm not unhappy with these picks and none are overpaying like e.g. as much as Pierre Garcon got from the redskins
Me too, and I would be very excited about that. He, Crayton(If he makes the team), and possibly Brown could give us that short-mid depth passing game that we have been missing, with Floyd and Meacham doing the deep work (Brown could also do this when Floyd is hurt). Combine that with the power running game and I am excited to see our offense.
