DAVIE -- Dolphins coach Nick Saban said that barring any negative medical tests regarding quarterback Gus Frerotte's concussion, he expects him to remain the starter against the San Diego Chargers Sunday.

Backup quarterback Sage Rosenfels relieved a woozy Frerotte in the third quarter Sunday and turned a 20-point fourth-quarter deficit into a last-second 24-23 victory over the Bills to potentially stir up yet another quarterback controversy.

"I know that's going be the big issue here,'' Saban said. "We feel like Gus is going to have some more tests relative to the concussion, but I think those are precautionary in nature. He's fine today and seems to be OK.

"As of right now we're not making any changes at that position based on anything that happened to this point."

Saban said that defensive end Jason Taylor (shoulder), linebacker Zach Thomas (shoulder, ankle) and receiver Marty Booker (calf) are all expected to attempt to practice on Wednesday.

If there are no lingering effects on Thursday, all three would be available to play against the surging Chargers.

Taylor, who missed a few plays in the second quarter Sunday while getting fitted with a shoulder harness, will host his annual ping-pong charity event at the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood tonight.

"Jason has been one of those guys that seems to be able to show a tremendous amount of mental toughness to be able to play through things and he certainly did it again in this game,'' Saban said.

Defensive tackle Keith Traylor, 36, whose knee locked up before Sunday's game forcing him to be added to the inactive list, will be monitored on a daily basis as to what kind of workload he could handle in practice.
