On Deck: Braves (23-23) at Padres (24-22) | Game 3 of 3 UNION-TRIBUNE May 24, 2006 TV: 4 San Diego, 7:05 p.m. | Radio:1090-AM, 105.7-FM; 860-AM (Spanish) Probable starters: RHP John Thomson (1-3, 2.76 ERA) vs. RHP Chris Young (3-2, 5.40 ERA) The skinny: In his only career start against Atlanta, Young last season tossed seven shutout innings of two-hit ball as a member of the Texas Rangers. Young did not figure in the decision in his last outing, tying a career worst by allowing three home runs over six innings in the Padres' 7-4 loss to Seattle on Friday. Though he has not figured in the decision in his two starts against the Padres as a member of the Braves, Thomson has been stingy, allowing just four hits in a combined 10 1/3 innings. In his first appearance against San Diego this season (a 4-3 Padres win on April 16), Thomson allowed just one run over six innings while striking out six. Thomson has not figured in a decision since April 29 (a 1-0 loss to the Mets), but the Braves have won four of the last five games he has started. Padres vs. Thomson Eric Young: .400 (4-for-10), 2B Mike Piazza: .296 (8-for-27), 3 HR Brian Giles: .182 (2-for-11), 3 K Braves vs. Young Kelly Johnson: .333 (1-for-3) Edgar Renteria: .500 (1-for-2) Ryan Langerhans: .000 (0-for-2)
I was hoping Young would get Jones' out and wipe that smirk right off of his face. Durn it.:icon_sad:
