Bowen went on the DL yesterday and Woody is headed there.

They finally sent Derwon packing and called up Adkins.

CHICAGO -- One man's misfortune is another man's opportunity. So it is with Rob Bowen and Paul McAnulty.
A foul tip off his catching hand on Thursday afternoon resulted in a trip to the 15-day disabled list for Bowen, a valued backup catcher whose place on the Padres' 25-man roster has been taken by a delighted McAnulty.

Williams tears calf muscle, heads to DL

CHICAGO -- Padres starter Woody Williams sustained a tear in his left calf while running the bases on Friday at Wrigley Field and will be placed on the disabled list, lost for an indefinite period.
"Woody suffered a tear of the medial head of the gastrocnemius (calf), at the musculotendinous junction," the club's head athletic trainer, Todd Hutcheson, said following the review of an MRI taken after the Padres' 10-5 victory over the Cubs.

Power arm: Also back on the scene is Adkins, the hard-throwing right-hander who pitched in three games for the Padres before being sent to Portland on April 23.
Dewon Brazelton was dispatched to Portland, where he'll return to a starting role, after surrendering four runs against the Brewers without getting an out on Thursday, raising his ERA to 12.00 in nine appearances.
"Adkins gives us another good arm in middle relief," Bochy said. "We think it'll be good for Dewon to go down and pitch regularly in the rotation." Adkins, who was 0-1 and was charged with three earned runs in 2 2/3 innings the first time around with the Friars, has familiarity with Windy City conditions. The former Oklahoma State star pitched in 59 games with the White Sox for three seasons (2003-05) with a 2-4 record and 5.08 ERA.

Ah...I saw the score and saw that Jake pitched 7 shut out innings, and wondered who gave up 5 runs in relief. He (Brazelton) hasn't been ableta fool any body with that Hit Me fastball that he opened the season with.
