I had made a bet with a guy at work, and we bet the Padres at $10.00 a game for .500 Ball for the entire season. They finished 22 games over, so he owed me $220.00 When we were down 2 Games, and he sure was talking some crap. I asked him if he wanted to double the bet. I won $650.00, as I had a couple of other bets also. My paycheck in those days was just a little over $500.00 for 2 weeks work. I lost $250.00 in the World Series.
