    1. Antonio Gates, San Diego
Pros: Had the most touchdowns (13), third-most receiving yards (964) and fourth-most receptions (81) among tight ends. He has not missed a game because of injuries in the past two seasons. He played basketball in college at Kent State so he's still improving at tight end.
Cons: Inexperience. He's entering only his third season.
    Draft Range: Picks 16-30
    Injury History: None.
Key Stat: Had at least 80 yards or a touchdown in nine games.
    Two Words: Big Year
Conclusion: Take Gates in the second round and win the tight end slot every week. He nearly doubled the number of touchdowns of Tony Gonzalez (13 to 7) in only his second season. Gonzalez only scored two in his second year before jumping to 11 scores. Gates has improved his routes and in his own words, added personality to them to shake off defenders. He stands to improve with open looks provided by the Chargers' strong rushing attack led by LaDaininan Tomlinson and a steady quarterback who seeks him first in the passing attack.
