Chargers | Meachem to visit Wed, 28 Mar 2007 15:41:19 -0700 KFFL has learned the San Diego Chargers will meet with Tennessee WR Robert Meachem April 12.
We might have to move up to take him. I've had a chubby for Meachem since before the Combine. This is good news.
Now we need all the tangibles on this dude compared to the rest of the WR's. What is his 40 speed ? If it is not under 4.4.....piss on him. :icon_eek: I know Jerry Rice ran a 4.6 whatever.
The LIVE links were jacked up but I could listen to the archive. 4.39 is some speed to stretch the defenses now does he have any dirt ? Possy ? If leisure likes him then forget it.
If leisure likes him, then he's probably already spent a lot of time in the back of a police cruiser.

Do you guys really think taking meachem is going to get us to a superbowl? Give me a break we scored the most points in the league last year offense is definetly something we can put on the back burner until the 2nd or 3rd round...I think we have an even bigger hole to fill at S and ILB....I will tell you this it could happen with Norval as the head coach since he is an offensive minded coach but if SD does go with a WR in the first I will be highly disappointed in AJ!
Marcus McNeill came to SD for a visit, but I don't think the Chargers publicized that until after the draft.
I dont think at the 30th pick there would be a defensive player worth grabbing if Meachem is available. True we scored the most points last year but that was last year. We had Kmac, and EP didnt choke throughout the season. Look ahead and tell me that besides VJ and EP, we have solid receivers. We need a receiver, but we also need ILB's as well. Im more worried about our WR's than our LB's. Im kinda hoping MT gets us an extra #1 so we can take care of both needs.
"my boy" IS THE ONE... I'll pull a leisure here... check out the bottom of post #3 in MAY of last year... http://forums.chargers.com/showthread.php?t=30786
Hotdamn the article Shammy posted has the dude running a 4.2 / 40 in Arizona ? Holy ****....I mean holy **** !!! :icon_eek:
You may be right however I believe that its possible michael griffen will be there and I also would like Buster Davis...Paul Williams is the sleeper WR in this draft IMO and we could get him in the second maybe even the third! I believe with the loss of kiel we need to go after a S and ILB first then WR....Just my opinion though!
I think the difference in safeties in round one vs. rounds two or three isn't very much. IMO, only one safety (Landry) is a first round talent. Piscitelli, Gattis, Wendling, etc will all be available in rounds two or three. Griffin is about the same, IMO as those three, but is overrated into the first round right now. Nelson is a dumb ***. Merriweather is a thug. I don't see any ILB's that will be around for SD in round one, except maybe Lawrence Timmons. He views himself as an OLB in the 3-4. If he's not going to challenge at an ILB spot, then it's not worth using a 1st round pick on him. He views himself as a pass rusher, and those starting spots are set with Merriman and Phillips. WILB (the Wilhelm/Edwards spot) is the most likely position if AJ drafted him.
You may be right but is it really worth a 1st round pick on a WR? How many WR's have become 1st year studs recent drafts not to many as I remember. Outside of Calvin Johnson although deep at the position as far as talent goes WR behind Johnson are just as equal and getting the last of the litter for a WR isnt exactly a smart way to go IMO!
