    Not counting any sports related shows.

    (although I can think of some that HIMYM is better than.)

    I watched it twice and it didn't grab me...sorry. :icon_eek: :)

    I don't think any show beats 24 or Prison Break for action, drama, and plot twists or House for insightful character development and interesting storylines. The House character is the most interesting one on tv today imo.

    Other original worthy shows I like are Weeds (PTA mom's husband drops dead; she has to support her family so becomes the upscale neighborhood pot supplier; this show is both funny and sad at times) and Entourage for an ensemble comedy that sometimes has me lol...(both these shows are on hiatus right now)

    I'm also starting to watch Sleeper Cell which looks like it might be pretty good. Someone recently bought me the first season on dvd. And Rome as I like that whole period in history.

    I have a couple of others I like but my dvr is full to the limit...I need to start watching and deleting...or get a dvd recorder. HBO and Showtime have some very good original programming. Deadwood was outstanding but it's cancelled now. I kind of miss cranky wise-cracking Al...I like the shows that can be downloaded onto my iPod (even though you have to pay) so I can watch them at the gym and kill two birds with one stone...

    I guess I'm tired of CSI...but I did like it at the beginning and glad you are enjoying it Toby...Of the CSIs, CSI Miami was the best imo...the only CBS show currently on my dvr is Jericho, which I have to catch up with.

    I like today's programming....I think the cable channels (HBO, Showtime) and Fox are at the forefront of good, exciting television programming... I've grown fairly tired of the churned-out "network" tv programming out there, but once in a while a good show does pop up....:) I guess I'm picky :icon_wink:

    Friends is great. It's hard to overtake that. I'm glad you agree with me that the two shows are comparable.

    Actually, no I didn't...I've never watched any of those programs, so I have no idea who Jack Bauer is, nor his poor (apparently) brother. :icon_eek: :no: :icon_shrug: :icon_huh:

    Group of people hanging out at a local eatery BSing about random stuff
    Two of the main characters pushed like they're "supposed to be together" (although they won't end up together in this case.)
    Comedy with a tad of "seroiusness" mixed in

    Ross = Ted
    Rachel = Robin
    Chandler = Marshall
    Monica = Lilly
    Joey = Barney

    They don't have a 6th character, though

    They actually are pretty similar in plot/concept.

    They even made a crack about it at the start of one episode.

    Anyways, to each his/her own.

    Nah, I still think it's the greatest show on television.

    People don't have to agree with me, but I'll still say it. :)

    To be quite honest I don't really watch that much TV these days outside of sports.

    I only happend upon HIMYM because someone had season 1 on DVD and played it in the lounge on my ship during my last underway before I got out of the Navy.

    Basically, I can't really compare it to other shows on TV with an honest opinion. The whole "best show on TV" bit was really just a sarcastically cocky way of stating I like the show.

    It's an underrated show, but...

    For me:
    1. 24
    2. House
    3. Prison Break
    4. The Office (really depends on what you think is funny, but I love it)

    Another underrated show is Monk. The DVR is great because if I didn't have one I probably wouldn't have a chance to like these shows, but it's great being able to watch when you can. Not sure if you get a chance to watch any of them Leo.

    i've posted this thread in pretty much every forum I post at.

    In every thread there's been at least one poster who's said he also likes the show....but The Office is better.

    Makes me want to check that show out.
