"Grammar Nazi?" where does that come from? Not sure why you think it was about semantics...
I was asking whether you were saying that you really thought King was likely to be a starter for a while
(my impression is that he's not what we hoped he'd be, and that he probably won't be "the guy" long...)
You may be more optimistic about him than I am, which is obviously fine,
but I'm a bit surprised by the tone of your response.

Sorry - I've been taken to task for there being no shades of "being sold" before so I jumped there. My apologies.

I'm cautiously optimistic with Dunlap, but what I'd really like to see is a top-flight guy in that position. But then, that's every team's wish isn't it?

Sorry for my caustic response before.

Hey, I really appreciate your apology...and, believe me, as a long-suffering Charger fan (is that redundant?)
no one would love to see Dunlap be the second coming of Anthony Munoz more than I would.

But my early impression is that he may be serviceable, but the team will probably need to upgrade
the position if it truly aspires to be a better than .500 club. And since you seem more knowledgable than the
average poster, I was a bit surprised that you seemed to be thinking there was a decent chance that King
was the long-term answer. (I have plenty o' faults, but grammar Nazi is rarely among them...)

Well, not really long-term .... but if we miss out on the top LT picks this coming year, I could see him as serviceable for another year, maybe 2. We have other areas to address as well. Top-flight corners don't come cheap, whether through the draft or FA, & we still need pass rushers. It isn't exactly unlikely that we spend a mid-round pick on a RB. I can see where we could pretty quickly have a situation where Dunlap is a stop-gap for another year.

So the Bolts go up against a supposed high octane offense, survive and win and it's only because they were "lucky"?.
Take your Lucky Charms and the little Leprechaun and shove them up your extrusion orifice. "General terms and blanket coverage apply".

That's just what Pagano is drawing up for Weddle. Gilchrist is just as good on the blitz, but Weddle is clearly the better tackler.

I'd try Taylor over Addae any day. Just don't understand why he's inactive. Maybe he's not 100% totally. Taylor can atleast drop back and make plays in coverage, Addae struggles.

Well, we will see how the season pans out. Hopefully Derek Cox turns it around. Has been roughed up last few weeks. We'll see how Shareece Wright and Richard Marshall do at CB. Depends on Brandon Taylor's health as well, and what to do with Marcus Gilchrist once Taylor is back. Steve Williams is someone who intrigues me as well.

Too early to tell, but if there is a shut down corner available to us, take him. We'll need an OLB as well. Depth a long the defensive line too.

Perhaps they created a new position on Defense. We used to call it "safety" but the way Wright played it was more like "trailer."

Weddle is listed as a FS on the roster.

I know. I was stating that Weddle plays FS. He does all those things -- plays center field, QB of the defense, etc.

Also plays opposite of the strong side of the offense.

Hard saying so early in the season, but from what I've seen so far, CB bigger need. Just depends on who's available whenever we pick.

Then again, it only took a young Quentin Jammer about 2 or 3 years to adjust to the position...

tough thing there is predicting who's going to develop (Jammer) and who's going to tank (Cason).
