Whisenhunt out interviewing for jobs instead of focusing on the task at hand is bad form.

I don't like it at all and it gives me a bad feeling.

The thing is, he's not "out". they are coming to him or doing it in Skype fashion.

He's a pro and it will probably have very little impact and I'm sure he's plenty focused, but yeah, I still don't like it much. oh well. come Sunday, I won't be thinking about it very much.

It's 3 or 4 hours of his life. Hardly a distraction.

And if it was a distraction leading up to it it would have been anyway because he's not stupid and knew interviews were pending before or after the playoffs.

I'd be pissed if he were flying to other cities to do these interviews but since they're requiring him to go nowhere and only take the 3 or 4 hours it takes to do 3 interviews I don't see the big deal.

But now I really hope we win on Sunday because I hate it when fans find some overblown BS to latch on to to make excuses for a loss.

The degree to which Mathews plays will be a way bigger factor in this game.

Seems to me like folks are looking for reasons to be upset or a scapegoat for a loss.

I wouldn't hurt myself trying to read between lines that don't exist.

I'm just agreeing with an opinion and that's that. You don't have to agree

I don't know. Maybe I'm reading too much into the whole thing. It just always seems to me like people wait until they're done for these types of things. People flying out to San Diego and Denver or over Skype even is just a bit much in my eyes. Just seems like he's looking ahead just a little too early.

It's just like damn, you can't tell them to hold off for a few more weeks? It's not like there's a hotter candidate in the league. If they really want you, they'll wait. Focus on Chargers football while you're still. I don't even want POTENTIAL distractions if that's even the case. I don't want to hear anybody talking **** in the event of a loss saying, "He didn't give it his all" or "He was just trying to get out of San Diego" or any other crazy **** that people come up with.

That's just me though. Anxiety is setting in. Forgive me if I've never liked the idea of him leaving SD even though I always knew it was a possibility. Just slow down a little, damn. That's all I ask.

Do you know how many former Chargers coaches have left and won the Lombardi????, Madden is an easy one there are easily four more off the top of my head. Like I've been preaching since the halfway point, if this defense is for real, watch out.

just to add fuel to the fire, what if those teams tell him "we'll hire you if you're available Monday, but if you guys win we can't wait for you"?

They're already angry at bringing up a possibility of it being a bad thing...what are you doing?!?!

    :roflmao:
Seriously though, a possible good reason was brought up under the similar thread at BT and that was that Telesco was making it a very warm atmosphere for would-be coordinators coming in. A lot of positive PR is needed after what Smith did and Dean allowed. Removed from that? chances of avoiding gonorrhea are good without a rubber but they're better with one. Doesn't mean players or coaches will be affected in the slightest by the OC interviewing but the unknown chances are higher to whatever unknown amount (again, removed from the positive vibe being sent out--which could be huge).

Interesting spot. If it were me, and AT THE MOMENT, before the game I'd have to say "Thanks for your time, I'll keep that in mind but, I have 12 quarters left of football I'm trying to win and I don't safely make it to the next without winning each quarter in front of it. If you won't wait, someone else will."

Bet they wait as long as it takes and hopefully were talking about some time in mid February.

Way I see it, if Whisenhunt has a half assed game plan for the Bronocs because of these interviews then it's going to look very very bad to his future bosses that he wasn't prepared. His success in this field is determined in no small part on his success in the playoffs.

Coordinators interview during the playoffs every year. We all know Whiz was here just until he could get another HC gig, I would be surprised if hadn't already had a good amount of his prep done well before this week. He's been a HC, he knows how he wants to run his ship.

If just interviewing, sans travel and for a couple of hours a day, is distraction enough to impact game planning he shouldn't be an NFL coach to begin with. Multitasking comes with the territory.

You can agree with Mohr if you want, no one is saying you can't, they just happen to disagree with the take. I said the same thing here that I said to a local radio host (albeit at my radio while in rushhour traffic ;)) who went on and on about the same thing. Seems like some folks are looking for reasons to get upset, when for once in a long we get to go into some playoff games loose.

Because he'd be higher in demand if they went in Denver and won and continued to win the AFC Championship and had a chance to raise the Lombardi, than to get knocked out in the 2nd round

I don't like it. If he is looking for new job he isn't 100% focused on the job in hand. If he doesn't want to be our OC then fine go don't let the door hit your butt on the way out.

In my honest opinion he should have said, thanks I am interested but I'm focused on the job I have for so long as we're in the playoffs. I'm happy to speak to you after we've won it all.

whats the big deal? The interviews started on Thursday. He already had enough time to do some more research on the Broncos and get a game plan up. They have already started practicing that game plan. Does someone think he is going to completely change everything up in a couple of days? We have played Denver twice already how much more film does he have to watch?

Al Davis, Joe Gibbs and Bill Walsh come to mind.
