"It's fixable"..I knew that the first time I head that this year (think it was right after the Pats loss) it wouldn't be the last time I'd hear it. I heard it in the first win vs. the Chiefs. Then even after the win in Denver it was mentioned. Then sure enough, after the loss to the Jets, I heard it again..."It's fixable". Who is saying this? Chargers players, Chargers coaches, Chargers fans. I've read it a few times on this site. "It's fixable" Questions: 1.Is it still fixable? 2.Have we fixed it? 3. Can we fix it? 4. When is it getting fixed? My answers: 1. It's still broken, so logically it's still fixable. 2. No we haven't fixed it. 3. Yes, we can still fix it.(by "we" I mean players/coaches/front office) 4. Not any time soon. What's your take on this "It's fixable" business?
The great thing about having a team as talented as the Chargers is...it's always fixable. You have some of the best players in the league. So you can at least always have hope. Truthfully, given the below average quality of this division, the Chargers still have to be the odds on favorite to win the AFC Championship...though beyond that it will be tough for any of us.
It's not whether it's "fixable" or not, it's when are they going to stop being "Conc Heads" and git down to business!!!!!
It's going to be a challenge with the current roster. Keep clinging to that "talented roster" routine & it won't get fixed.
The roster is 'talented' enough to win. Steve Young said this is a team that could be champions, if they would just decide to start playing like champions. They are not as 'talented' as they were when Merriman was in his best season with us, but good teams adjust with player losses... Well except for us and the Colts apparently...
Steve Young wouldn't make a pimple on Montana's ***. Screw that Curious George looking bitch. Talented enough to win? Sure. As talented as many still blindly believe? Hell no. And Norv didn't run them off or neglect to replace guys who have moved on. Like it or not, we need to consider the fact that we have some rebuilding to do.
Of course it's fixable. All teams problems are. I have a feeling we start fixing it all this upcoming game against the packers. Calling it now 9-0 going into the playoffs.
clearly you must mean the AFC West, because in no way are we the odds on favorite over New England, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, or heck, even Buffalo
Against bad teams. They haven't proven that they can beat anyone good. It's time everyone stops thinking we have such a talented team when they are proving week in week out they AREN'T very talented at all.
If we beat Green Bay is it fixed? I'm sure the Chargers are still odds on favorites to win the AFC worst but not by a big margin. Oakland on 3 days rest is going to be very very tough as they have the same rest but after a bye week. Fact is, even if Philip takes that knee, it isn't fixed. Too many good D players Jamal, Merrimen, Burnett have left without being replaced. I see Gary, Spikes, Philips, Jammer, and Weddle as good but not fantastic, we have no real leaders on D and now randoms off the street are filling in AJ style.
I think it's impossible to watch the Chargers and NOT see the great talent on offense and defense almost across the board. The Chargers problems have almost always been mental or focus related. There's just something about them. You know they can line up and play with anyone, but you also know they will give you opportunities in almost every game - opportunities you HAVE to exploit to have a chance. It's got to be frustrating as fans, because it's always...JUST riiiiight there at the fingertips... It seems too easy to say it's the head coach, but the more and more I look at it, I can't really explain it any other way, as you've had a ton of different talented players in and out in this modern Chargers era. Of course, if you snap off a huge upset next week or go on a run and bury the rest of the AFC West, none of this will mean anything.
Our defense is average in my opinion. Really who on there is a pro bowler(even though I felt Phillips and Jammer deserved the honors on a few occasions). I don't really see All-Pro talent on the D. No, Clay Mathews, Revis, Tambi HALI. Though I totally agree with the offense and outside of this year they have been producing. I do think it's the coach though not fully as some and I have in the past. The players need to come together and put aside their worries and concerns about the coach and play their butts off for him. Norv isn't a NFL professional Head Coach for nothing he has to have some great plays in there and hopefully this team can use them.
Weddle is tied for the leauge lead in INTs with 5...... not sure you might want to take him off your not fantastic list. And the hell with your assumption of Jammer being just good.
Im surprised that I havent heard about a team only meeting already. Would be nice to hear bout how the team is keeping it all in perspective and focusing on moving forward and in a positive direction. The outcome will take care of its self. sigh, one game at a time for the team.
