How are you able to type with your hands fondling Jackson's nut sack?

    1) obvious troll is obvious
    2) he's on his rookie contract
    3) they can only give a certain percet raise in the uncapped year (125%?)

Wrong. They could have signed both MM & JJ to new, long term deals.

Are you sure that they weren't only allowed a certain percent raise to keep teams from going crazy with spending?

I'll look for it. Just look at the Marshall and Ferguson contracts. Pretty sure I'm right.

Hey, Denver Bolt, this is off topic, but I have been informed by a devoted Bronc fan from my local liquor emporium that Jamal has become a dominant force in the Bronco defense. Couldn't confirm. Any info?

Admittedly I may be reading things through the fog of old timer's disease, but if AJ puts them on the Reserved Did Not Report list, we have their rights for another season.

I think he can only put them on "roster exempt" list. Which means after they sign their tender they are not elligable to play for the next 3 weeks. In otherwords they'll have to sign their tenders in week 7 rather than week 10 to acrue a season of service.

I wonder though if this will make them harder to trade.:icon_shrug:

Brandon Marshall got about a 50% raise, so although people keep throwing out the 25-30% rules, what ever it is, there are ways for the get around it as Miami proved.

I didn't watch their game, so I can't confirm but I have been listening to Sports radio here and I keep hearing them say he is inconstant. They say he had a couple great plays, then a couple plays were he was no where to be found. But it is really tough to tell since it has been 1 pre season game.

I watched the first half of the Bears game last night and was not one bit impressed by Dombrowski. Norv had Rivers making v quick throws and so rarely did Peppers et al have a chance to get anywhere near. I saw Dombo at least twice lose his balance and fall sideways or face first, this is something I remember from last year. The guy might be a good run blocker (maybe even better than McNeill in this regard) but I don't see him fit to tie McNeill's boot laces as a pass blocking left tackle.

AJ needs to get Marcus in here and fast imho.

Actually he is quite correct. Go read the information out there on the non-CBA capped seasons. There is still a cap on how much a players over all salary can raise per year, even in light of a long term contract.

Of course that is provided there is no lock out next season.

There are ways around that. The Dolphins proved that when they gave Marshall a HUGE pay raise over his salary last year. He made $2.2 last year, signed a $2.521 mil tender, and is getting $4mil this year, $6.5 next year and $9 mil in 2012. That means he is getting a 63% raise this year over what his tender amount was, and that doesn't even include his bonuses. That is strictly base salary for the season.

So I know there is a rule about raises, but obviously there are ways to get around it or Miami wouldn't have been able to give Marshall a 60%+ pay raise

I stand corrected, or Miami will be facing a situation like the 49'ers faced for their salary transgressions back in the 90's.

However at the risk of having personal insults about my corporate job title shot at me, I would be pissed off if AJ gave VJ a Marshall-esque contract. You have to ask yourself, is VJ worth it, and at the cost of which players. Who would we cut to make room for a less talented CHEAPER replacement?

As much as I'd hate to see VJ go I'm not as worried about him as I am about McNeil.

I trust Rivers enough to make the weapons he's left with still work but I'd like to see his blindside protected.

Despite that, I still don't fault AJ too much considering how things have gone down but I still really want McNeil in camp.

I am not 'worried' about either. If Big Mac goes down with an injury we still ahve to play. If Big Mac decides to ride the pine, we still have to play.

If I had my way, agree, Big Mac is a more important cog than VJ. Hands down, and that is not to insult VJ or his press manager who has joined us recently ;)

We have some good WRs behind VJ and I dont think we will miss a beat. I think the running game and short, blitz killing passes will help us overcome and drop off at LT. We will play, we will win with or without them. It is their choice that it is without, so I am not going to give either one gray hairs worth of worry.

I'm not trying to suggest we're doomed without McNeil. I'm not in that chicken little camp.

I was simply pointing out the obvious that he plays an important position and, while I agree they're not doomed without him, they're still best off with him.

I definitely don't know all the rules, most of us don't, I just know there has to be a way around it or the Commissioners office would have rejected Marshall's contract

I agree. I wouldn't re-sign VJ at all unless he was willing to take less than top 10 money. But I have a feeling he is looking for Marshall type money, which is why I do think he should be traded.

With that said, I would give McNeil top 10 money.

    Dublin Bolt:

I want to say that Dombrowski only played a few series and that the guy who got rocked off balance on several occasions was Tyronne Green, the current backup. When I saw him (Dombrowski), he didn't look as big as he's listed. Sports Illustrated and ESPN both have him closer to 6' 4.5". I didn't see the long arms you want on your LT, you see right away he's no dominator. It also appeared to me, in his 2pt stance, he was lining up off the ball. He's a local product that went undrafted. I think he's better suited to play inside. But I think your point is well-intended, this offense is apt to remain a pass-oriented one and going with some chump they dragged out of the soup kitchen is probably not the best idea.

From earlier today: "ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Chargers are "nowhere close" to getting holdout LT Marcus McNeill into camp despite Wednesday's face-to-face meeting with GM A.J. Smith." http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/38776030/ns/sports-player_news/

McNeill has 39 minutes to sign his tender, or he's guaranteed to be sitting 1 regular season game.
