Chargers re-sign Jared Gaither to four-year deal

Posted by Evan Silva on March 14, 2012, 12:43 PM EDT
    AP
Michael Gehlken of the Union-Tribune San Diego reports that the Chargers have re-signed tackle Jared Gaither to a four-year contract.
Though possessing a checkered medical and off-field history, Gaither is one of the most impressive young left tackles in pro football. The 6-foot-9, 340-pound lineman is only 26 years old and solidified the position down the stretch in San Diego last season. Gaither was filling in forMarcus McNeill, whom the Chargers released on Tuesday.
Gaither has the potential to be better than McNeill, perhaps much better. He was the No. 5 overall player on PFT’s Hot 100 Free Agency list.

Best news of the week....... couldn't afford to lose him. Maybe, AJ isn't a total prick. ;)

no where near the cap for all that.. focus probably is now on Garay and possibly Tolbert, but most likely not. But we do like to make a run at our players before bringing in new RB's. SS and OLB will be addressed this draft..

Running back class of FA's is slow. There's LT out there, which if we lose Tolbert could be brought back for the vet min., that bridge is probably burnt down though, and Kahlil Bell, Tashard Choice, and Justin Forsett..

We are definitely close to the cap, within $5-6mil of the cap at this point. We only had around $20 mil available, no matter what Hacksaw keeps saying

I said it before, we could eat up most of the cap just retaining our own players. Don't see any big defensive free agent signings in our immediate future.

Me either. Maybe a couple role player/rotation type players. I don't see any legit starters unless it ends up being a trade like in 04 when we traded for Oben and McCardell

If we were allowed to say nice things about A.J., I'd probably say something now.

I'd like to see Justin Forsett in a Charger uniform. He is not quite Sproles but he's better than Tolbert. Although, I do like Tolbert.
