....Lakers fan here, big time since Elgin Baylor and Jerry West. This team is more enjoyable to watch than the Shaq/Kobe teams because it's actually a TEAM! Not up to the Magic/Kareem/Worthy level but I like this team alot

As far as I'm concerned, the team to beat in the west is still the Spurs. They are playing good ball right now and are battle tested in the playoffs.

          My west rankings right now.

          1. Spurs
          2. Mavs
          3. Rockets
          4. Lakers
          5. Hornets
          6. Suns
          7. Jazz
          8. Warriors

Lakers/Rockets are not serious contenders until they make it past the 1st round.

There's No Way You're Serious About The Mavs Being Better Than Us Considering How We Owned Them Just Recently....And The Rockets Don't Stand A Chance Against Us Without Yao....NO.....****IN.....WAY.......

And The Spurs Will Get Exposed.......

Regular season doesn't matter. Mavs have made it to the finals recently, and will gel before playoff time with Kidd on the team. Rockets are on a tear winning 18 in a row and 6 in a row without Yao. Spurs are the Spurs, they know what they need to do to win.

Don't get me wrong, the Lakers story this year has been great, but we still have to wait and see how they perform in the playoffs.

Mavs choked in the first round last year and they haven't been very special this year.

And what makes the Rockets so good? They beat a bunch of bad teams big deal.

I can give you the Spurs over the Lakers because the Spurs are still the defending champs until someone beats them.

IMO the Mavs need to prove they can win with Kidd, them making the Finals 2 seasons ago doesn't really matter.

As your so called Christ is concerned he alone can not take down these fine Gods that the SPURS have:
Manu Ginobili, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Micheal Finley and in the Playoffs to include the Finals Robert Horry takes up his game like no one else can.

That is too much of a team for the Lakers to handle right now. It is as well the Spurs are not a 1 man show like the Lakers are around your Christ Kobe. He just can not get it done what so ever alone against the gods that are the Spurs. My opinion of course.

so again I will say it loud and with great vigor.

            !!!!!GO SPURS GO!!!!!

Wow, look at the ages of the Spurs players not named Tony Parker:

            Bruce Bowen, 35
            Tim Duncan, 31
            Michael Finley, 35
            Manu Ginobili, 30
            Robert Horry, 37
            Damon Stoudamire, 34
            Kurt Thomas, 35

I don't see these old guys getting through all of those tough teams in the West.

It will also be interesting to see how bad the Spurs will be in the coming years; poor drafts in recent years have meant that there is no young talent waiting in the wings.

Doesn't matter anyways, Lakers are winning it all.

Fact remains that a Kobe led Laker team has not won a playoff series. Just getting past the 1st round IMO will be a successful season for the Lakers. I'm not saying it's impossible for the Lake show to get to the finals, but it's really hard for me to see them winning a best of 7 series against a veteran team like the Spurs, Mavs, etc. Old age won't matter either. Remember the 96 Bulls that won 72 games? They were the oldest team in the league back then.

When did he say that? Competition was fine. In fact, that Sonics team that the Bulls beat, would be the best in the west if they played today. The Bulls were just that good.

              Ahh...but now we have Kobe/Gasol/Fisher.

I boycotted the Lakers after they got rid of Shaq. Then they brought Phil Jackson back and they still weren't watchable. "Kobeball" was not what this fan wanted to see. Then last year, they started playing some TEAM ball. When Fisher came back, I lifted my boycott. Gasol was just the icing on the cake.

Oh...and for your Spurs fans, remember what Fisher did to your team the last time he was a Laker in the playoffs?

And the Queens beat the Lakers.

Both games today were well fought.

              Suns vs. Spurs=big D game.

Queens vs. Lakers= lots of O

Both games were played at high speed, agressively and carazy.

Indeed, they were old. But what you fail to mention is that after the Bulls' championship in 97, they finished 8th, 8th, 8th, 6th, and 8th in the NBA Central division.

The Bulls pretty much prove my point about the Spurs' age across the board, and what could happen in the very near future.
