No, they keep adding bowl games because they keep making money. Sponsors pony up major bucks for the naming rights, alumni are happy because they can get away from their wives during the Holidays and travel with the team , and even an “insignificant” bowl like the Emerald gets good ratings. And college coaches LOVE the bowl system. It’s a lot easier to make your fan base happy when you can get to a bowl every year, like Terry Donahue did at UCLA. Put in a playoff system, and only 8 teams get in, and there’s just one winner. As long as coaches and University administrators favor the bowl system, I don’t see it changing.
What do you mean? I addressed your point directly. :icon_shrug: Bowl games continue to make money, so more are added. Networks, sponsers, and Universities all win. It has nothing to do with implementing a playoff system.
I agree with TK, no way they change a thing. The last thing that the ncaa is going to do is take a chance on a playoff system when they are printing money in the current setup. I think that I am going to spend the afternoon at Seaworld, so I am going to get down early today. I know who I want to bet, just trying to figure out how I want to go about betting it.
Mtl, I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on the Rutgers Game. That is a FAT ML (+262) in favor of KSU, and Kojak (who is on a roll) at therx has KSU, but I have a very hard time betting against Rutgers. This is your time to prove that 12-1 Bowl Record buddy.
I like OSU as well. Also like Kansas State, not sure about the Cal game yet. PS. I am undefeated in my bowl picks so far. MTL, eat your heart out!
Thanks TK. You are on a roll. I really appreciate you posting your picks, it helps out knowing what sides the rest of LLV is on.
Your welcome. You don't have to lick my nuts, not even a little bit. I will post my thoughts regardless.
I know. It's just appreciated. For arguments sake, let's say you made up a record like saying you were... I don't know... say 12-2 so far this Bowl Season (I just made that number up off the top of my head). Without any written proof, why would we believe you? Your input before the games is appreciated.
So if a team wins a "first round" game, they play their backups in the second round? Then third-stringers if they advance again? :icon_huh:
Also, FWIW... I have recently added Natalie Morales to my list of "news anchors I would like to bang" list. In fact, I think that she might be the only person on that list. So good for her. WTG Natalie!
