That's just an idiotic statement Conc; I'm not impressed. Chargers fans need to get over their complex regarding the Raiders. They suck and we have bigger fish to fry. I dont like the A's, you can if the mood so strikes you. So in my humble opinion, no Charger fan should root for any Oakland team. But BDH is correct in saying the A's are not the Faiders.
I agree...the A's look to me like the class of the American League West. And the once insurmountable lead by Detroit doesn'seem as daunting now, altho they'll prolly win the Central, with Minnie winning the Wildcard.
The Twins scare the **** out of me even without Liriano. But keep in mind we will probably have a healthy Harden in the playoffs. There's a huge difference between Harden, Zito and Haren compared to Zito, Haren and Blanton/Loaiza.
In the early 70s when I was stationed overseas, this California surfer didn't have a California baseball team to root for til the A's broke thru...in January 77, whilest onna C-141 headinta Operation Jackfrost in Alaska, the pilot put the Super Bowl on over the intercom-Oakland vs Minnie. The last thing I remember before jumpin outta that perfectly good aircraft was the Raiders puttin a thumpin on the Vikes. So it was a state thiing for me, after yearsa hearin about hot rods and queers from Cali. 'Course, that all changed with the Holy Roller!!:icon_evil: 'Sides, the Pads put a thumpin on the A's that still has them reelinta this day.
Conc maybe I came off a little strong yesterday but your initial comment was directed at me. That said, I hate Oakland as much as anybody. In the areas I sit for A's games most of the people around us want Al Davis to leave. But for some reason the Oakland City Council and the Alameda Co Board of Supervisors seem to enjoy the butt-sex from Mr Davis. Now they're going to lose the A's to the South Bay or even Vegas. Idiots. Yet here are some of my tax dollars paying for the Raiders to be here.
