Merriman trudged down a path that included a training camp contract dispute, an injury-riddled preseason and an early-season reserve role. But that path is coming to an end with a trip to Honolulu.
The pass-rushing linebacker was among a six-pack of Chargers named to the Pro Bowl on Wednesday. Running back LaDainian Tomlinson, tight end Antonio Gates, fullback Lorenzo Neal, defensive tackle Jamal Williams and special teams player Hanik Milligan were the others selected for the postseason all-star game in Hawaii.</blockquote>
