People are already questioning if its true, or is Tila just trying to extend her passed 15 minutes of fame.
Nothing good comes from this even if he is exonerated from everything.... NOTHING.... This will now become a distraction from football for the entire team because this is the new flavor of the week for the Chargers regardless of his guilt or innocence.

Exactly. Why with only a week away from the start of the season would he do something this stupid? It's got to be BS. But still Merriman and his name poping up all over the media space is getting out of hand. AJ and Norv need to lock down Merriman and anyone else who's getting to "Hollywood".
I think thats a little over exaggeration. To think the whole team will be effected by this little attention whore is almost laughable. I think all it will do is be something to talk about in the locker room. I don't condone what SM did or didn't do but to over blow the situation is just a typical Charger mentality that I thought was over. This will be talked about for the first week of the season and then it will blow over. This is a veteran team, not the Raiders. You think with the players we have like LT and Rivers they are going to let this distract them from what they have been working on all this offseason?

My response to your little rant... This is raider week. We are the prime time game. Every news channel is going to run this as a "top story". The reporters are going to ask the question at each and every presser held this week. The team will have no escape from the news as it will be a "HEADLINE". A Headline we don't need. Norv needs to concentrate on preparing this team, and not preparing what he needs to say to the press regarding 56. LT, will get asked, PR will get asked and they don't need that ****. Our team needs to only be concerned with the Raiders, not what KUSI, ESPN, NBC 7/39, Fox News or any other outlet is going to ask them about 56....
Here, I'll prepare it for them: "Since there's an ongoing investigation, I have no comment." That was easy!
Unless the reporters are going to be barging onto the practice field to ask them these questions I don't see how this "distraction" differs any from any other real life everyday "distractions". Tell the reporters "no comment" and move on. :icon_shrug: That being said, it's certainly an unwanted distraction for me and other fans trying to follow the game and not players possibly going to jail.
Gonna stop you here and say...EXACTLY! If the Chargers can't get up for this then there is something seriously wrong with this team. Cheaters or not, the Pats had the "spy gate" scandle just weeks before the start of the season and they were better than fine. Thats the kind of mental toughness the Chargers need to have.

I don't think this will affect the outcome of our game this Sunday... I think we win THIS Sunday regardless... The RAIDERS are bad. But I do think it will be a season long DISTRACTION... Everytime he goes to court, if/when he gets suspended (him not being on the field will be a DISTRACTION if he gets suspended)... IT WILL BE the flavor of the week... This is national news because it's 56, but throw in another "star" into the mix and it becomes MTV, Sports Soup, US Magazine type news. Every media outlet in the country is going to run a story and each of them is going to want access... I'm not sure if you understand the "power" of the media....
