Cancer from the Cubs. I hope this is a sign for more moves. I say we trade for Dunn.

Cubs get Kyler Burke and Rob Bowen

I like this move. Barrett has some pop and he can throw people out.

Yep and this guy not only got into it with Zambrano but another starting pitcher as well.

Who else did he get into it with?

The only scuffles I know of that Barrett got in were with Zambrano and AJ Pyrzinski, both of which are known hot heads.

i'm not holding my breath for Dunn, the Reds asking price is pretty steep.

Barrett is a high character player I've met him like 40 times he is very nice. Very calm, doesn't have a temper... he enjoys fishing and hunting so all the hot head stuff is BS. Improved his consistency at bat since he was with us, but he's still a streaky hitter. What he does is make the pitching staff better.

Imagine if the Expos actually had money and stayed... the roster would be like

      C Michael Barrett
      1B (Never had a great 1B)
      2B Jose Vidro
      SS Orlando Cabrera
      3B Brandon Phillips
      LF Jason Bay
      CF Grady Sizemore
      RF Vladimir Guerrero

      SP Pedro Martinez
      SP Javier Vasquez
      SP Cliff Lee
      ...

Expos had mad drafting skills. Heck Randy Johnson was drafted by the Expos. Cliff Floyd, Rondell White, Milton Bradley, Wilkerson, Grudzielanek... Geoff Blum... I remember seeing Blum back in like - 99.... but he sucked then and sucks now. Urbina was great when he was with us. Ayala is one of the best setup men. Chad Cordero was picked by the staff.

**** bud selig. Look at that outfield. Bay-Sizemore-Guerrero are you kidding me? Minaya sent Lee and Sizemore to Cleveland for Colon to make a playoff run and it was worth it since it was our last hope. Washington can kiss my ***

It was Rich Hill, and apparently it was nothing more than a slightly animated discussion that was blown out of proportion.

At least that's what the article on the trade at Cubs.com says.

It wasn't blown out of proportion IMO and I saw it on ESPN. Hey he may work out and be happy that he's out of Chicago and the guy can hit.

He's really good friends with Jake Peavy, so that's a plus.

Also, apparently when informed of the pending deal Greg Maddux said "Get him here, now!"

The 1994 Expos would've won the World Series

At the last ever Expos home game on the way out they handed out posters of the entire 1994 squad saying with "best team in baseball" written on top. Who can forget guys like Mel Rojas, John Wetteland, Darrin Fletcher, Mike Lansing and Jeff Fassero. Marquis Grissom openly expressed his man-love for the Expos a while ago. Felipe Alou was the best GM in the game. Gawd we were loaded how did it all fall apart. Our front-office and scouts were the best in baseball until Jim Beattie came in and our longtime scout retired like 5 years ago. When Jeffrey Loria fired Felipe Alou it was clear he was trying to kill baseball in montreal. **** loria and **** david samon and **** bud selig everything was a big conspiracy to kill the expos while making $. **** beattie for trading dustin hermanson for fernando tatis.

People brought "**** bud selig" signs to the big O and security took them away. When the Expos were confirmed leaving, the newspaper put a shot of a "bud selig go to hell" sign on the front page. I can't begin to tell you how much I hate Jeffrey Loria and David Samson those asshats came into the bleachers on opening day 2002 and everyone was shaking their hands and thanking them for their effort to keep baseball here when those assbags knew all along what would happen as they helped the MLB perpetuate operation kill the expos. MLB is corrupt. I am still convinced Montreal is a huge baseball city the problem is that the olympic stadium is all the way in the french quarter and nobody wants to go down there as it is too far from downtown. If there were a baseball stadium downtown there would regularly be 25k fans minimum. I see people with expos jerseys and hats walking around everywhere the spirit still lives. Nobody had the balls to build a downtown stadium.

why are you blaming MLB for losing the expos? they can't fill the seats or build a new stadium.

fact is nobody showed up at the games.

but, I feel for you MTL, I would stop watching either sport if teh Bolts or Pads ever left SD.

Because MLB blocked us from buying farm contracts when we were making a playoff run, because MLB knew what they wanted back in '95 and put people in a position to get it done, because Loria was a hired goon by Bud Selig who promised the people he would work to keep the team when he actually worked to move them as fast as possible, etc....

When we were making a playoff run people started filling the seats and we had a better attendance on avg than teams like Florida, Pittsburgh and Detroit (before their new parks). Interleague play brought 35k fans to the seats each game. Yankees Red Sox Blue Jays... those home games were huge. Yankees and Mets fans flood the stadium.

      WOW, Mtl

      that fugging sucks.

I never knew, I'm not really surprised. I think baseball, next to Basketball is the most corrupt sport out there

Rumor is Padres interested in Milton Bradley. And another rumor is that the cubs tried to push the pads into taking Jacque Jones and Izturis.
