My latest mock.....Includes 25th pick in 3rd round from Cardinals, and 2 projected compensation picks for Goff and Olshansky. 28) RB Ryan Mathews - With a running game, our offense has no holes. 60) NT Cam Thomas - Big body, says he "loves hitting people"...thats the kind of guy we need. 89) SS TJ Ward- Fierce, intense and intimidating in the box saftey, explosive hitter and wrap up tackler who plays with a chip on his shoulder. (Will fall here because of injury) 92) DT Torrell Troup - Extremely strong, explosive off the snap, hard worker, unselfish, can play NT and 3-4 DE. 127) ILB Phillip Dillard - Smart, intense, BIG HITTER, excellent athlete...lacks in coverage though. 200) TE Michael Hoomanawanui - Blocking TE, to make up for losing Manumaleuna. 211c) OLB Hall Davis - Big 3-4 pass rusher, strong enough to hold his own against run, has upside. 239) WR Kyle Williams - Jitter bug with explosive speed and quickness out of the slot. Also a kick returner. 256c) QB Sean Canfield - Smart, accurate QB, a product of Mike Riley who does a good job preparing QB's in pro schemes. In case your wondering..."why no big power back?"... its because I LOVE some of the mid round defensive players like Ward, Troup, and Dillard. Our defense could use the intensity they bring. Also as much as I like Blount, I don't think AJ will.
Only thing I see missing from that mock is some filling at corner. Ward is a great player, but I think we're in a pretty good boat as far as safety goes. Ward probably is better than Gregory, but in the end, is the IMPROVEMENT worth a 2nd round pick? We've got NO real depth at corner right now, and REALLY need to fill that. I guess we might find someone in the FA, but what's available? Do we reach for Dre Bly, so Jammer won't feel so old?
I had you in mind when I made this pick.:icon_tease: He's definitly a blocking TE, and can line up at FB in shotgun and I-Formations.
I actually used a 3rd rounder for TJ Ward in this mock, he reminds me inexplicably of Bob Sanders. This mock took me a couple hours, it was a process of taking the best players available in some cases, and I just don't love many of the CB's in this draft. One guy I really like is Owusu-Ansah from Indiana, but his stock has skyrocketed since my last mock and now he's considered a legit late 2nd round pick.
I'll post a mock too but I'm gonna wait a few days to see what happens with Whitehurst.. hopefully we get Seattle's second somehow
And the rumor about the possibility of "another big departure", more draft picks could be on the way.
since things have changed i wouldnt mind this draft let me know what you guys think 28) NT, Dan Williams, Tenesse 60) RB, BEN Tate, Auburn 89) OLB Eric Norwood, South Carolina 92) FS , Major wright, Flordia 127) ILB , Reggie Carter,UCLA 200) CB ,Syd'quan thompson, california 211c) WR , Mike williams, syracuse 239) RB ,Anthony Dixon Mississippi state 256c) ILB,Boris lee, troy
Would be great!! but it'd take a miracle for Dan Williams to be there for us at 28. Ben tate is a solid RB and has good hands. Don't think we need a FS at the moment and I don't think Anthony Dixon will be available then.
I've seen some new mocks lately that put Dan Williams late in the first when prior to that there's been alot of discussion about him moving into the mid first. What's going on there?
it shows him fallin to the low first because the broncos would be the only team to really have drafted him but they signed to vet dt's, and anthony dixon i could see fallin down alot if hes not there get joqouie bell wayne state, and i have us takin major wright because he could either push eric weddle to play better or he could take eric weddles place, i mean major shows alot of potential to be great
28) Dan Williams,NT 40) Daryl Washington,ILB 89)Ben Tate,RB 92) Taylor price,WR 127) Rico Mccoy,OLB 200) Syd'Quan Thompson,CB 211c) Joique Bell,RB 239) Darrell Stuckey ,SS 256c) C.J. Wilson,DE yea its a stretch but its possible
We arent getting two comp picks. You guys are big time confused. We will get 1 comp pick. Personally i think Nate Byham is a lot better blocking TE than Hoomnawanui and i dont think we need a SS. I actually think drafting a safety in the first 3 rounds is a wasted pick. Wouldnt suprise me if we dont pick a safety at all in this draft. Now CB, i can still see.
Pretty simple. We lost Goff and Igor but signed Burnett. Burnett and Goff will cancel each other out and we will end up with a comp pick for Igor. It will be a 5th or 6th and will be determined soon. I thought everybody on the Charger boards knew that. Looks like most do anyways on the other boards.
Im pretty confident it will work that way. Igor's contract is much bigger than either of those guys. Never know the formula is so stupid but it makes the most sense to be that way. We will find out real soon.
i know with the first 2 picks we have that wed all like to see this 28) Dan Williams, NT 40) Ryan Matthews, RB but the fact of the matter is it will never happen now THE FIRST TWO PICKS WE GET WILL BE 28)Ryan Matthews, RB 40)Terrence Cody,NT i know alot of yall hate terrence cody but hes gonna land at 40 to us i hate it as much as yall do but i believe with a good conditioning coach and some good weight traing he should clog up the big hole jamal the wall left
i went ahead and finished it off from above after doin some research our draft might look like this 28) Ryan Matthews, RB 40) Terrence Cody,NT 89) Jason Fox, OT 127) Darryl Sharpton,ILB 200) Charles Scott,RB 211c) Stephen Williams,WR 239) Leigh Tiffin, K
